@handyandy saidNo. If people don't like a thread, even one they themselves started, like everyone here they have the right to not post it. I can't see any justification for anyone stopping a conversation that other posters are having as long as it complies with the TOS.
Should the thread creator have the right to close the thread?
@very-rusty saidWhat other site?
I remember once having a thread moved from a the GF to another site because they claimed that was the site it belonged in. Now it doesn't seem to matter where the Thread goes.

Mumsnet?
@fmf said"When in Rome..."
As I said, I think things are OK as they are.
I also think that it's ironic that a poisonous misanthropic potty mouth like yourself - as evidenced by your postinng on the Debates Forum, which is an utter cesspool because of posters like you - is here musing about "the way posting ought to be".
@handyandy saidGood point Andy, as if I recall this is possible within the club admin (your own club), whether that is a privilege to a member I don't know. However, this is possibleπ€·βοΈπ€not sure...

Not remove the thread, close the thread.
@earl-of-trumps saidThis is an unimpressive reply from you.
"When in Rome..."
Do you not have character and standards of your own?
If yours is the cop-out "When in Rome" stance about contributing to a message board cesspool, why are you starting a thread about posting standards?
@fmf saidAn out-of-thread, personal attack. Time for WEED BE GONE spray.

If *I* was King of the Netterword, [ttssssss ttsssss]... you'd be gone.
@earl-of-trumps saidYou're deflecting because I have an inconvenient on-topic point..

Your hypocrisy is utterly relevant to your choice of thread topic here and your contributions to this thread... and, of course, to your contributions on the Debates Forum where people can see for themselves the way you apparently think people ought to post.
My observation here is not "out-of-thread" at all.

@ghost-of-a-duke saidActually it was this very site and forum goad which the post was removed and put in another thread because they said that is where it belonged.
What other site?
This Thread should have been in "Site Ideas", not that hard to understand is it!

@earl-of-trumps saidOf course he/you will, that was the reason for you starting the thread in the first place, in the wrong Forum I might add again! Got noticed more here than it would have in the "Site Forums" though, got to hand that one to you! π π
As one other poster pointed out, drifting has created some of the most spirited threads.
Now, just because the thread starter has the right to delete a post that drifts does not mean he *will*.

@earl-of-trumps saidThis is already implemented in private clubs. If you want control over who posts what, start a club.
In the imaginary world, here are the new posting rules.
The originator of the thread has the following powers:
1) Thread starter, or OP, can delete unwanted posts at his discretion
2) OP can remove unwanted posters from the current thread
Too radical? It might cause problems as well as solve some.

@moonbus saidYea, that is what I told him. We know nothing is going to become of this anyways as he can do it by starting a club or a clan. The function is already there. It is just he wants to be able to remove certain posts by certain posters, myself being one of them in the General Forum. Gives him a power trip I believe! π

@Earl-of-Trumps,
If I was king the Netterword, which isn't even a word I wouldn't have you gone. I get a good laugh out of you. Ranting around making yourself look silly, and not even putting up a good argument when all is said and done.
Listen if you don't like what is said alert it, if the Moderator agree with you he/she will remove it, If not it will remain there. You don't like that though, you'd sooner be able to do it yourself. I can't see that happening anytime soon! π π

@fmf saidYes of course he meant me and you and who ever else's comments he doesn't care for. Wasn't there a guy called Hitler sort of like him? π That should get a reaction from him. I think he would be better off staying in the Ghost Chamber where his comments will be more accepted!!! π
