Oh for crying out bloody loud!

Now go tell Xanthos that 'rancor' is the American variant of 'rancour' and is simply not acceptable.

I may agree with you on that point, but he is my Commander in Chief, so I must refrain from insults towards him. Whom would you fight for?
i would fight for an HONEST man and not one who exaggerates lies to start a war and has yet to come clean with the American people and when that happens the people who voted for this asshole will fell LIKE SUCKERS WHO GOT TOOK. Bush is not my commander in chief he is nothing to me but a LIAR. I hate everything he stands for. Matter of fact i hate the AMERICAN POLITICAL 2 PARTY SYSTEM it nothing but a popularity contest. Republicans and Democrats, Conservatives and Liberals THEY ALL SUCK THE AMERICAN POLITICAL SYSTEM IS A JOKE AND ANY ONE WHO BELIEVES THESE MIDDLE AGE WHITE MEN HAVE THEIR BEST INTRESTS AT HEART ARE FOOLISHLY MISTAKEN..................

Believe it or not, but the "only the poor" join the US military is more fallacy than fact. There are more enlisted personnel with BA and BS degrees than ever before entering the services and not because they couldn't find a job on the outside. Sure, joining the military is a great option for a poor person, but that poor person has to have morals and intelligence, not be a street thug.
Rec'd. The original post I mean.

As a point of interest, my friend and I are considering joining the military because we are having a tough time in the present economy. We have BS degrees in Chemistry/Biochemistry respectively.

Ingenious psychological warfare... get somebody to enlist out of desperation due to a weak economy. Get them to kill somebody. You have a supporter for life.

It is very hard for somebody who has killed (probably a civilian in the case of the u.s. military) to be convinced that their actions were at the behest of an evil regime, and equivalent to the actions of Nazi soldiers under the rule of Hitler.

With all due respect, why choose a chemistry major? There are very few (that I'm aware of) careers in that field. I would think that someone that got a job like that would retire from that same job. Feel free to continue this talk in a PM so we don't hijack the thread, if you'd like.

The thing about Hitler was, even though he was a very evil man, he was an excellent leader. My history teacher in high school had some transcripts of his speeches, and the things he said would blow you away. I probably would have followed him too, had I not known what he was fighting for...

And, I'm seriously thinking about joining the military. The US Navy to be exact. The reason behind my inspiration? Seeing a program on Navy SEALs, seeing the Blue Angels flying the skies...wow.

I doubt there would've been a strike had they condemned it as a horrible unjust atrocity.

you must be very young!

a son of a relative of mine just joined airforce in u.s., because his single mother couldn't pay for his education working three jobs. how sick is that.

we have free for all academic education here. well, with a nominal fee comparable to rhp subscription. nobody has to go kill anybody to get education.

I chose biochem. Biotech is a healthy industry from what I understand. It's also a good field to study abiogenesis and evolution from I think, as well as virology (both interests of mine).
