Oedipus doesn't actually exist so he probably didn't start incest. I suppose you could suggest that since Sophocles wrote the play he may have started the whole thing but I suspect that the Oedipus myth was already in existence prior to Sophocle's play.
Oedipus was technically guilty of incest [and patricide] but from a moral point of view he cannot be ...[text shortened]... ophocles doesn't dwell sufficiently long on Oedipus's childhood for this to be established.
