Upon his desertion he was hotly pursued and only narrowly escaped capture. On entering the South he was captured and almost hung for being a spy. He gives his name to the Tennsion gambit, adopted by Wolfgang much to his enjoyment. It begins 1.Nf3 d5 2.e4!? and is held to be slightly dubious.
