Talking seriously - Fisher is well-known with his categoric and inadequate claims so his claims itself cant be proof.

I agree.
An example: Fisher claimed that 1.e4, e6 2.d4, d5 3.Nc3 was a refutation of the French Defense!!

1. g4 e5 Who said black is forced to go 1.g4 d5 2.Bg2 Bxg4!? Those tricks work against newbies.

Did somebody say that black is forced to go 1.g4 d5 2.Bg2 Bxg4 ?

And where is refutation? 1...e5 itself proves nothing.

Umm.. taking the pawn is the best move by a long shot. I don't know where you got the !? notation. Fritz and most other programs give it a !.

I'm not one to talk because i'm 0-1-0 against the grob on here.. but it IS unsound.

I have analysed that lines with Rybka and can say that white cant get any advantage if black knows how to play. I have been posted analysis in one of the "Grob threads" some time ago.

You can take the pawn but you can also steer the game to lines that the likes of Dragonfire who play it do not know. The grob is primarily a surprise weapon, but you are no means forced to take the pawn.

Imagine someone who spends hours and hours preparing for something that can be sidestepped?

Grob can be played not only as surprise. Its useful against too self-confident opponents who does not take this opening seriously.

You are more likely to see Kasparov playing the grob (which is unlikely now that he has retired) than for that user to be seen playing such a mickey mouse opening.

Hey z00t - what's your rep., and what's your record against these so called "Mickey Mouse" openings? I guess that's anything that scores under 51% for white and under 43% for black?

Can you refute this opening? Can you show sure way to advantage for black? If not then this opening is playable like other hypermodern openings in which white does not pretend to opening advantage - like Reti, Kings Indian attack, 1.b3, 1.g3 etc.

I dunno man.. I think going up a pawn is refutation enough.

Who knows, maybe even the queens gambit is unsound 🙂

Wait a minute - who did say that after 1.g4 d5 white is obliged to play 2.Bg2?! ???
