Wikipedia rightly calls it [b]an unconventional chess opening where White immediately moves the king knight's pawn two squares ahead: 1.g4.

And which of these variants are refutation of Grob?

The main "grob" involves giving up the g4 pawn which is unsound.

    ahh.. beatiful. Thankyou.

Ok, I hate to say it but I think it's about time you and Korch have a game with grob's gambit.
Lets try to settle this in a RahimK sorta way πŸ˜‰

In Grob white after 1...d5 can get playable position without giving up their g pawn. If you have checked these lines carefully, you had to see it.

With 1...e5 & dark square counter-strategy from black, the Grob can look like a fool's errand.

Yes - if white does not know how to play. But its not bad plan for black.

I could show a few dozen games that show otherwise!

Would you like to see them?

I think that is the only Grob I have lost from 60 plus games.

That is a better result with white than I have achieved in any other opening.

Besides you have 200 rating points on me - you are expected to win.

Are you sure that such good result you would achieve if you would use Grob against 1900+ players more often?

That the way how Fisher "refuted" Kings gambit πŸ˜€

Take a note - that game was played in 1963 - after his "refutation" article in 1961.

I was taught to play like this. (for black)

    1. g4 d5
    2. Bg2 Bxg4
    3. c4 d4
    4. Bxb7 Nd7
    5. Bxa8 Qxa8
    6. f3....(Nf3 fails to d3)

After that black is down an exchange but is compensated for it by having 3 pieces developed and white's crappy pawns make for nice targets.
