It's not often you are gifted a queen and lose.

I found this thread really useful. I followed the tips given by RahimK and others and reached 1400 in a few months after joining RHP.
But once I started to play higher rated players I dropped back.
I found that many players set their open invite limits lower than their rating. That's for sure helps you reach 1400. Choose opponents whom you can beat easily. Play with them regularly and your rating will skyrocket😀

1400 hundred is a little too close to 1200 to be anything special.

NO, NO, NO.

Wasting people will not make you better. After a point that's it.

Play people +/- 200 point of your rating. Once in a while if you need a confindence boost beat someone 300-400 point lower.

Always have a few games vs ppl higher then you.

So if you play 6 games, I saw 2 with +200, 2 even, 2 with -200.

At 1400 the chess is better than that at 1200. It is better to aim for 1600 or even higher but you can only progress so far depending on your effort or lack thereof.
