Black made a big error on move 14 (allowed a forced mate in 9, though I admit I did not see it), and then I came up with a move (15) that would win a piece, or the game.

Sure it is. Just because you move faster doesn't mean that it "isn't much of a game". There isn't always a need to think for 5-10 minutes on every move. Especially if you have the opening memorized out 15 moves and can pump each one out in about 5 seconds.
