I can certainly 'wrong' someone (or even myself) by my own or societies standards of right and wrong, but that's the extent of it.

They do not acknowledge the word "sin" and its affect on the world because it's a word "religionists" use... the implication is different, but not the effect. If the effect is the same then the cause must be where our difference in opinion rests.
I don't believe I ever was a natural born atheist. The same people telling me to 'question everything' did not approve of my questioning everything.
