Well the endgame is me demonstrating your arguments are wrong, but any good
debate strategy does that.
Ok so I will take your answer to mean that you don't believe that we could or are
about to find evidence that we live on Terry Pratchett's Discworld.
Great.
Now I would hope that the reason for this is that we have overwhelming evidence ...[text shortened]... stion settled beyond reasonable doubt and will not change with future gained knowledge.

You didn't answer my question of my previous post either. Par for the course.

Can you imagine the decision making process where said god looks at every single atom of matter in the universe and IT decides on the path that every single atom of the universe takes from the day it was born in the explosion of a sun till the day it blows apart in some reaction or other?
Did you really want me to answer that?

All well and good, but the bottom line is this: Why, if a real god inspired these religions, are these religions based on really stupid fairy tales? If a REAL god inspired all these Abrahamic religions, why would it not step in and say, look, you want to tell that flood nonsense, fine. But just be sure to make it clear at the start that this is what COULD h ...[text shortened]... Talk about presuming to know the mind of a god. These men were the poster boys for presumption.
he didn't have time to specifically point out exactly all the scientific flaws of the bible, he had to vacate the mountain for a concert that was booked after him. he also gave us reason, and allowed us to use it. Saint Augustine had no problem looking at most of the bible as a metaphor. The catholic church has no problem accepting evolution. Only various protestants still cling to the stupidity that is YEC.
why doesn't god step in more often? that is a good question. one easy answer would be he doesn't want to interfere. that is but one aspect of the non-interference of god but it does address your point. humanity should grow, better itself, through its own means. a supreme being constantly interfering and "fixing" things might not give humanity much credit.
And that creation story you want to include...
i am gonna use caps this time because you don't seem to geddit. THE CREATION STORY IS UTTER CRAP WHEN TAKEN LITERALLY AND MERELY A WEAK METAPHOR WHEN TAKEN METAPHORICALLY. REALIZE WHO YOU ARE ARGUING WITH. I AM NOT RJHINDS, I DO NOT YEC, NOR DO I BELIEVE THE BIBLE IS 100% CORRECT OR EVEN 50%.
if you are so bent on trashing religion, either admit you are actually trashing fundamentalism, or come up with better arguments. using yec when talking to a moderate christian is like telling a moderate muslim he is a terrorist and islam kills.

Of course that still leaves Revelations....
You say most moderates in religion don't believe in the creation story but why do you find it in every summer kids bible school and all the rest of the BS of the OT?
I play acoustic folk music and found an old timey session at a Presbyterian church and the room the musicians were to meet was taken over by a vacation bible kids class and I saw the creation story right there in the lessons.
It doesn't seem to me they were rejecting anything in the OT. Looked like same ole same ole to me.

no, it should not be forgotten. and we should make sure that never happens again. yet it has exactly the same relevance to religion as nazism has to being german.
"Why do Catholics and Protestants alike still have the OT of the bible as the basis of their religion?"
why does sonhouse still says that catholics and protestants have the ot as the basis of their religion? were my caps not caps enough? jesus is the basis.
"why do you find it in every summer kids bible school and all the rest of the BS of the OT?"
why are the fables of la fontaine being thought in schools? because they carry teachings that can be of benefit.
It doesn't seem to me they were rejecting anything in the OT.
again, why do you think that american fundamentalist protestants define religion?
my theory is that you cling to these notions because otherwise, what are you left with in your crusade against religion?

The killing of people is only good, if the resulting good is greater than the bad that will result from not taking such action. An example is WW2.
