Children in some parts of the US are being subjected to mental abuse.
They are being taught Creationism. Not as a theory to balance Evolution, but as a fact. This is a thought crime that should be condemned by all right-thinking people. Teachers and parents are blocking off the tsunami of scientific evidence, and putting their faith in a book written some 4000 years ago by a scribe in Babylonian captivity struggling, with limited scientific knowledge, to make sense of the eternal question that troubles us all of how did it all start. Worse still, the unhinged YEC community are going further and warping their children’s malleable brains with the ludicrous notion that the universe is only 11,000 years old. The worst culprits are in Louisiana, Georgia, Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina and Wisconsin - the so-called Bible Belt.

@pianoman1 saidBut what line would we cross? And what other lines would there be to cross thereafter, if "we" were to go down this road and interfere?

I feel that neither Creationism or Evolution of man should be taught in public schools. If one wants their children to learn Creationism, then they need to send their children to a private Christian school. I do not want God being taught to my children in school by someone I do not know. Schools are for academics, not Church.
The same goes for evolution. A private atheist or agnostic school for evolution.
Evolution of man is a theory which should not be taught to young children as fact either. If one wants their children to learn about evolution, they may learn it in college or elsewhere; not public schools.
The rest of your post is mostly bs.
Notice that five of the six states you posted were in the Confederacy; and that, they are all Republican leaning states.

The reason this is happening is that people in some states, most likely the states you mention, don't think it is important to teach science. Kids should be set on the path of science as early as possible. Science is facts and the scientific method absolutely should be taught as a method of determining what is real and what is fantasy. Do not advocate that we shouldn't teach kids what they will need to know later. Too many states delay this vital teaching and their heads end up getting filled with right-wing baloney.

That’s pretty ignorant.
And the theory of evolution is hogwash.
@suzianne saidI mostly agree. I was talking about the "Evolution of Man from apes;" not all of Evolution, or of science. My bad. Other than that, I agree. I don't want these whacked out supposed Christians teaching anyone anything either; especially children. Furthermore, most of them are nothing but right-wing a-holes.

To I, science and God go hand in hand. God is the great scientist; so to speak. My opinion.
@kingdavid403 saidI’d have no problem with the theory of evolution being taught in schools as long as it’s taught objectively and its many flaws are presented.

@pb1022 saidWell, there certainly is evolution to adapt in most species; including man. As I stated previously, I'm talking of the evolution of man from apes, which I was taught in 5th grade around 50 years ago. I feel the evolution of man from apes, is debunked by the fact that there are still apes today that are totally un-evolved . Other than that, I have no problem with it either.

@kingdavid403 saidBut one branch of the evolutionary tree does not de-bunk another branch.

Going back to the OP, in today's world, not teaching a child science, AKA "the way the world really works", is, yes, child abuse. Not doing so horrifically handicaps that child.
