In order to discuss prophets, we must know what a profet is. Answer: "One who does prophecies." (?)
This didn't help us much if we don't know what prophecies are. Only those written in the bible? I don't think so. Many are those who try prophecies. Jehovas Wittnesses has tried to do prophecies, and faild. The world is still here, despite their prophecis that the world will end. Numerous times.

Is a prophecy a foreseen future?

"I know that the sun will rise tomorrow." Is this a prophecy?
"My shares of AT@T will rise tomorrow." Is this a prophecy?
"Some day I will die." Is this a prophecy?
"I feel I will win at a lottery quite soon." Is this a prophecy?

We all do prediction of tomorrow. There are even companies doing this, like the weather-man on TV. Whenever we do this kind of prophecies and fail, should we be punished to death?

Without any good definition of what prophets are and what prophecies are, this discussion is meaningless.
