I agree; "judge" is too emotive a word, it was KellyJay who
introduced it into the debate and it has only deflected the
debate away from what I intended.

I can't take credit for this but a friend put forward this observation.

If you read any novel, you determine who the good guys and bad guys
are. You make that decision based on the characters actions and deeds
in relation to your own morality. The novel does not, for example, have
to explicitly say "Harry Potter is a good wizard"

Why then does the bible have to?

Is it because god's deeds are contrary to human morality?

You think you telling me to shut up on this thread or any other should
matter to me? I've been answering your questions and giving you some
questions of my own, and have not at all demanded you to shut up or to do
anything else.

You can make whatever demands you want, they will be ignored more times
than not. If you ask nicely then we may get past this. In the great long and
short of all things what is said and done here is a very little thing in our
lives. If the worst thing that happens to us in life happens here, we are in
great shape.

After all we both share hurts and pains in our lives I know neither one of us
would wish on anyone else.

You really are quite contrary! I ask you a question and you "shut up"
I tell you to "shut up" and your fingers fly across the keyboard.

If it doesn't matter to you, you will not mind if I repeat myself;

SHUT UP

Please, let me know when you wish to have an adult conversation.
Until that time, I will shut up and will not respond to anything you say till
you apologies. You of course may go on as you are now, or not up to you.

That's it! Commandeer the language! Own the vocabulary used against you! The homosexual community took control of the derogatory word "queer", defanged it, made it their own. African Americans did the same with the word "ni**er". Indeed they have made it their own and ABSOLUTELY NO ONE ELSE'S. Now, here you are: taking control of "shut up" and using it in your own way! The wind will be taken from wolfgang59's sails every time he uses "shut up" as you have now made it your own! 🙂

that is because you assume almighty god is so petty and insecure as to care that you judge him.

if anything, i expect him to be glad one thinks for himself. i refuse to think he created us to be obedient muppets

So apart from RJHinds quoting from the bible nobody can offer
me an explanation of how they discerned their god is good?

Zahlanzi, what matters is sustaining clear and rational thought. If you say: "that is because you assume almighty god is so petty and insecure as to care that you judge him.

if anything, i expect him to be glad one thinks for himself. i refuse to think he created us to be obedient muppets"
you are verging on being arbitrary and foolish. A logical basis might be : On the basis of rationalism or empiricism these statements might be worthy of serious consideration.

Dogmatically saying: "that is because you assume almighty god is so petty and insecure as to care that you judge him.

if anything, i expect him to be glad one thinks for himself. i refuse to think he created us to be obedient muppets"
you demonstrate subjective thinking. At least make a statement that reflects logical thinking. We owe God a hearing.
