But what of those who are not "correctable"? Is it just to release them back into society? I think not.
Originally posted by SourJaxIt's horrible, but you must think what led those people to do such horrendous acts.
Those of you that feel that Life Sentences and Death Sentences are cruel and unusual punishment, I have to ask. What is appropriate punishment for someone who overdoses a 10 year old boy and keeps his dead body underneath his bed for three days and has sex with that 10 year olds dead body for those three days? What about the guy who attempts to have sex with his 2 week old daughter and in the process kills her?
When I hear those stories I feel like killing those bastards with my own hands. BUT that is just vengeance and hard feelings. Maybe they can never be rehabilitated, but you must try. Do you think killing someone is an answer? It's a solution to us, in our society, because we get rid of that scum. We also feel the bitter-sweet feeling of vengeance. But that is WRONG. That's only the easy way, not the just one.

Originally posted by SwissGambitWhat you glibly refer to as mere seperation from God is the absence of life altogether. I do not dispute the fact that such a fate is horrible. As for the reference of "everlasting fire" one can only speculate as to what such words refer to. Especially in the spiritual realm. Perhaps such words were used as a point of reference to help us understand the torment involved?
And, for those of you who represent 'hell' as merely 'separation from God', please explain the following verses.Matthew 18:8[/b]
“If your hand or foot causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life lame or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet, to be cast into the everlasting fire.
Matthew 25 ...[text shortened]... part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.

The 'everlasting fire' was prepared for the devil and his angels, according to the bible. It is not just some natural thing that happens when people are separated from God.
Originally posted by SwissGambitTo be honest I don't know what it means to be completly disconnected from "the living" as well and I never want to know. For example, how is one "dead" but still aware that they are "dead"? Do realize that we are discussing spiritual states and not mere physical states that we are living in now which further clouds the matter. In other words, what we are lacking are points of reference that are missing to better understand what is being said. I simply view hell as a place prepared where God is no longer is apart whatsoever.

So if that psychiatric evaluation never comes back "OK" then we will keep him locked up indefinatly? This is morally acceptable to you?
It's quite different from the Hell your God proposes, where a good person, just by not having faith in God, is going to eternal damnation.

children by the blood of Jesus Christ, the need to do that is because
of our sins. If He just blows off our guilt He is not just, so some type
of payment is required. It also has to be a just payment for the
amount and type of crimes done, there is a place where we can turn
from our ways yet that does not leave us guiltless. So if you have
rejected the right to be come a Son of God there will be no place for
you, you will be rejected and will with your crimes have to stand before
God and pay for them. God not only takes our crimes upon Himself
He also takes crimes done to us as if we did them directly to Himi,
there is no out before God, all the bases are covered, yet He is for
us not against us, that is the main thing that people here keep
missing. It is not that God wants any to perish, but He will not over
ride your will to go the way you want.
If you reject the right to enter into God's Kingdom you are left with
nothing, it is amazing that we can have a relationship with God and
be His children with all that goes with it, or reject it because we like
things the way we like them.
