It seems very clear to both of us, but when we compare notes, we find that we disagree about what it says and end up calling each other 'crazy people' and accusing one another of twisting it to suit agendas.

I mean seriously, some of the stuff in the Old Testament to my mind needs some serious twisting to explain away, yet most Christians seem to make an attempt at it.
