you said:
Right now all we want to concentrate on is what Jesus told us to do. If we were to follow your suggested courses of higher education, Jesus would have mentioned that and even set the example himself. But did he? What examples did he set for us? He said his Kingdom is no part of this world and neither would his followers be in the sense of pursuing worldy riches and position.
And by far the average JW has many, many ,many times the Biblical knowledge then say your average Catholic, or Baptist, etc.

what are we to infer from this statement? that Christ does not want us to seek out higher education? really ? why?

All I am asking here is for you to explain and substantiate the statement you made...if you can

Below are some extracts from your 'partner in delusion', Mr Galvo, over the last few pages. I've highlighted some of them.

[i]But if one is looking at Jesus as what a Christian should be doing
, he led us not only by command but also by example. Again there are 2 major points about looking at Jesus that should be clear. First he did not pursue ...[text shortened]... no one pursued further education? Who'd be the doctors? the engineers? the scientists?
Well...lets see here. If the world were all JW's then we would have no need to do the worldwide preaching and teaching work Jesus told us to do. It would not be needed. Right?
So then we could use all that extra time we would have used for searching for ones to teach and then we could use our time to do these other things. We're not dumb or stupid. Many of us would have no problem becoming doctors or scientist as a few of us are as we speak.

Why wouldn't he? Your not reading my post then as I've explained that very clearly.

i still don't understand what your point is, for there are many Witnesses who are all those things, doctors , engineers, architects, teachers etc etc if we choose not to pursue higher education, but devote our time to helping others, then what of it.

i think you are misunderstanding Galvos intent, which was, if helping others spiritually was good enough for the son of God, then why shouldn't it be good enough for us.

Well it's not true that we oppose it. As I said we do appreciate it very much and not all JW's have been JW's all their life's. Many have become JW's later in their years ans still serve society very well in positions that a higher education would allow them.

But they are, after all, converts? Surely the should admit that had they become a JW ear ...[text shortened]... ad a hand in developing that system?

Perhaps you oughtn't drive cars or use roads.
True. Most that are born a JW probaly would not. But does that make us bad, or stupid, or uncaring about our world and society?
To the contrary the work we do 24/7 earthwide is to hopefully save life's and make their life's better, cleaner from the filth of the world, and a life that is closer to God.
So.... is that so bad that we try to do all we can to accomplish those things? It sure sounds like a few here hate us for making such an honorable effort with our own time and money. Is it that those who don't feel guilty? Who knows but it's something anyone can do.

I'm not spelling it out again Rob. It's not a difficult concept to grasp, everybody else seems to be onboard. I guess you'll just have to miss the party this time.

This is crazy don't you think? Does he really not get what we're saying? I think if we totally agreed with him he'd still disagree..

Maybe it's because 2,000yrs ago, there was no higher education to be attained? Jesus could hardly have recommended going to school when none existed.

they have a tendency of of trying to assign to us values that are non existent, for example, earlier today it was construed that we thought higher education was evil, of course when you called Conrau out, he had a ready made excuse, Noobster seems to be trying to say something about running the world, i am still unclear, but he has deserted me and has lost his patience, Duecer on the other hand completely fails to understand your post at all, it really is a wonder what this is all about. what do they think we are trying to say?

You are probably all those things. In this case, however, I would describe you as hypocritical. You discourage higher education but happily profit from it.

actually there were many schools of higher education, both in the Greek and Roman world, indeed our whole education system is based on the Greek model.
