No. It was Galvo who misconstrued me. I never accused you or Galvo of calling medical research evil. If you go to the original post and apply the normative syntactic rules of English, you would see that this is the case. I described your organisation as evil.

actually there were many schools of higher education, both in the Greek and Roman world, indeed our whole education system is based on the Greek model.
The schooling in the Roman world wasn't established until after Jesus was long dead.

Conrau has hit the nail on the head in the previous post.

Originally posted by robbie carrobieNot really. From what we know of Roman and Greek education (but this comes from academics so you should probably stop reading), their education consisted mostly of grammar, rhetoric and logic. The Trivium. Medical science and, in fact, any of the natural sciences were generally neglected. It would be a mistake as well to call any of this 'higher education'. There was no primary or secondary education to begin with and a Greek or Roman would attend an academy as an pubescent teenager.

Originally posted by robbie carrobieAccording to Galvo, these are converts. The point however is, if JWs eventually convert a significant majority and consequently higher education declines, there would no longer be a stable supply of any of these professionals. There may be a few JWs who either as converts or anomalies practice medicine. But they would not be a significant majority any longer. Society would not be able to function in its present form.

Originally posted by Proper KnobInt he case of Jesus they had their own centres of learning, rabbinic schools. Other Jews, as was outlined by my comments with regard to Paul, had a higher education. If you have read any of the classical philosophers you will know that the practice was that a learned or prominent individual would found a school of thought.
Correct me if i'm wrong but Jesus wasn't born in Greece was he?

Galvo said nothing of the sort, once again you fail to understand his intent, for example, let us take the case of war and the huge resources that are pummelled into weapons. It is estimated that one in four scientists are presently working on weapons programs, thus, if everyone was a witness you can dispense with 25 percent of those already, are you getting the picture? apply this to any area, judiciary, nursing and health care and the theory is sound.

Originally posted by Conrau KHigher education would still be around and alive and well... Why do you not think we have questions about our planet and our universe like anyone else? How things work, what the future will be and how to make it better? You guys forget we're humans too. We all want answers and to make things better.
