Any thoughts on these scriptures and what we all see happening on our planet.....Now?

Matthew 24:3
3  While he was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples approached him privately, saying: “Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your presence and of the conclusion of the system of things?”

Matthew 24:7
7  “For nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be food shortages and earthquakes in one place after another."

Matthew 24:12
12  "and because of the increasing of lawlessness, the love of the greater number will grow cold".

Matthew 24:37-39
37  For just as the days of Noah were,a so the presence of the Son of man will be. 38  For as they were in those days before the Flood, eating and drinking, men marrying and women being given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, 39  and they took no note until the Flood came and swept them all away, so the presence of the Son of man will be.

Luke 21:11
11  "There will be great earthquakes, and in one place after another food shortages and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and from heaven great signs".

2 Timothy 3:1-4
1 "But know this, that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here. 2  For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal, 3  having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness, 4  betrayers, headstrong, puffed up with pride, lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God, 5  having an appearance of godliness but proving false to its power;a and from these turn away."

2 Peter 3:3, 4
3  First of all know this, that in the last days ridiculers will come with their ridicule, proceeding according to their own desires 4  and saying: “Where is this promised presence of his? Why, from the day our forefathers fell asleep in death, all things are continuing exactly as they were from creation’s beginning.”

Matthew 24:33
33  "Likewise also you, when you see all these things, know that he is near at the doors".

These are not the last days. Relax. Humans will continue to be self destructive, but will still be here for centuries to come, no doubt exploring and colonizing other planets.

Deal with it.

Humans have been predicting the end of the world since the beginning of humanity. They have been wrong every time.

I'm always surprised when this topic is brought up by a JW, bearing in mind how many times they have been historically embarrassed by their false predictions of the end times.

In 1876, for example Charles Russell predicted that Christ would return in 1914. Since that prophecy failed, the society has predicted at least seven other dates when Armageddon would occur. - The Jehovah’s Witnesses also quietly abandoned a prediction that people alive in 1914 would live to see Christ’s kingdom on Earth--a major doctrine that lent urgency to the sect’s door-to-door warnings that the end of the world was imminent.

These predictions are all based on false, materialistic, interpretations of Scripture. "The kingdom of God is within you" is the only spiritually coherent interpretation of Jesus's words to his disciples, that some among them would see the kingdom within the lifetime of those who heard the message.

The Gospel of Thomas makes clear, that those who think the kingdom of God is after death or in the sky will be preceded there by birds.

Let's be honest, this 'last days' nonsense that you propagate is intended to scare people into subscribing to your church. This sense of urgency is the same tactic scam callers deploy when they try to get your personal data.

If your church was credible such tactics wouldn't be necessary. - The Bible even tells you that nobody knows when the end days will come. Haven't you read the Bible?

"But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only." Matthew 24:36-38

So if we for a moment think about christian doctrine:

* Nobody knows the time when Jesus will return.
* There are signs.
* Since at all times people calculated that the return of Christ was imminent at all times the signs has been (subjectively) fulfilled.
* Of course we know now for sure that e.g. the plage in the 14th century was not a sign of the imminent coming of Christ.

Questions:
How do we know that our interpretaion today of the signs is the correct one?
Was there any time since the crucification when the signs had not been fulfilled (at least seeing that from a perspective of the people living at that time)?
What exactly would we change in our lives would we really expect to live in the last days?

The Watchtower or Charles Russell has been predicting the end of the world since 1867 or thereabouts. They have made predictions and prophecies by the hundreds and all have failed and have even been an embarrassment to the organisation.

At what point are you going realise that it is time to stop the nonsense.

I'm confident all this will happen one day, but IMHO trying to predict events such as this is pointless.

Thanks for your comment. But just a point to see is what does the Bible say here? Does it say we need to try and predict when these things are to happen or does it say to "watch for the signs"? There is a difference.
So yes these things have always happened in the past, and Jesus obviously knew they would still happen on an "everyday" type bases.
But there would come a time in the future that he was saying that not only would all of these things happen but they would all be happening in a much more severe way that would affect the whole world and all of mankind. And in fact the bible says that "unless those days were cut short...NO flesh would be saved".
All it would take today or tomorrow is for one of the governments that have the weapons needed, as in atomic, is to push the "button" and this world could be destroyed in a matter of a day or so. We all know that....
This generation now has that ability. None before could do this.

Just a side point to mention on the first scripture at Matthew 24:3.......

3  "While he was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples approached him privately, saying: “Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your presence and of the conclusion of the system of things?”

What is meant by the comment when they are asking Jesus this question when they ask "what will be the (sign) of your presence"?

So I take it you don't have an answer to the question?

I dont ask, neither do I answer questions. I respond to comments or statements people make. I never post a verse and ask .. "What do you think that means?"

If I post a verse I will say what I think it means. That is how a discussion gets going. Give it a try.
