@galveston75 saidYou really are shameless to ask atheists for explanations of bible passages when you claim to be the only true religion. You should be teaching and explaining, instead all you do is cut and paste nonsense from the Watchtower website.
And of course you can't explain it either.....
@Rajk999 saidIt's ironic that he's predictable, and yet his religion is so poor at predicting stuff.

@galveston75 saidActually, no.
@Suzianne Well he may have an explanation on his thoughts of what he thinks that scripture means and that is fine. But I think that scripture is pretty clear on what it says......
2 Peter 20, 21
20 "For you know this first, that no prophecy of Scripture springs from any private interpretation. 21 For prophecy was at no time brought by man’s will, but men spoke from God as they were moved by holy spirit."
The self-righteous constantly interpret scripture wrongly, giving it their own spin.
You know, people like Charlie Kirk.
And people suckered in by cults.
@galveston75 saidSome prophecy is God-given.

Some other prophecy is the ravings of people who say they speak with God, you know, for personal gain.
@Indonesia-Phil saidHeh, but so apropos of our situation in the US at this time.
Point taken. It's all about the prisms...My own particular prism was balls to the wall Christianity when I were a lad, at some point I threw it into the 'used prisms' bin, and have tried to do without one ever since. The wider/deeper issue of free will, who has it, does anyone have it, is something best not gone into now, it's a bit too philosophical for a Tuesday afternoon. Hope you're having a good day.
SO, so many just throwing their free will away.
It's disheartening.
@moonbus saidWell of course bad things have always happened. No one says that haven't. But read those scriptures again and try and get what they are saying..... I have no idea what else to say.
The black death in Europe was much worse than we are seeing now. Estimates run btw 40 and 60% of the population succumbed. Many thought those were the last days, too.

@galveston75 saidAnd there are plenty of self-righteous ones depicting themselves as 'righteous'. It is rife in American society right now.
@Ghost-of-a-Duke
Proverbs 4:18, 19 says: “The path of the righteous ones is like the bright light that is getting lighter and lighter until the day is firmly established. The way of the wicked ones is like the gloom; they have not known at what they keep stumbling.” The light of the sun gets brighter and brighter from dawn until the “day is firmly established.”
Would you explain this scripture to me please?
Jesus was clear, that if you're another of the self-righteous, you are, in fact, wicked.
@Rajk999 said"Explanations" aside, what Christians should be doing is following Jesus' example.
Professed Christians [with some integrity], do not go around asking atheists to explain scriptures. You should be ashamed to do that. What you should be doing is posting the scripture and providing and explanation, which can lead to a discussion.
@Suzianne
The scriptures say it is a "composite" list of things that would all be happening together and like has never happened before them.
But yet all of you are sadly blind to what this is saying ( in your own bibles ) but yet you don't understand them.
And this ridicule is exactly one of those signs that says would happen.
@galveston75 saidLike most predictions, the things predicted are so vague as to be argued they have happened before.

@galveston75
Matthew 24:7
7 “For nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be food shortages and earthquakes in one place after another."
Matthew 24:12
12 "and because of the increasing of lawlessness, the love of the greater number will grow cold".
Luke 21:11
11 "There will be great earthquakes, and in one place after another food shortages and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and from heaven great signs".
etc. etc.
There has never been a century when none of these things happened; wars, earthquakes, and famines happen, somewhere, every century. It all depends on how one interprets "signs."
@moonbus saidSo. Do you think these verses with what they say are basically useless?

@Suzianne saidSo you have no trust in the bible?
Like most predictions, the things predicted are so vague as to be argued they have happened before.
@Ghost-of-a-Duke saidThe remaining 58% will declare warfare to be a waste of time, take up knitting instead, and realize that cricket is far more important than religion, (I don't understand why people don't already know this) , and humanity will live happily ever after. Except in Wigan, but they were never very happy there.
In 2198 there will be outbreak of swine flu that will wipe out 42% of the world's population, whereupon the remnants of the JW church (numbering 38 and living in a caravan park in Wigan) will announce triumphantly the date for the end of the world.
