Given the title of this thread, one would think that some may realize that in Matthew 16:28, Jesus is speaking of a metaphorical "death".

But then, given the caliber of the posters on this forum...
Everyone knows that those who insult the intelligence of others are themselves intellectually insecure.

Everyone knows that those who posit that "Everyone knows that those who insult the intelligence of others are themselves intellectually insecure" are themselves intellectually dormant.

Anyone notice how many Christians view truth as an "insult"? It's not mere coincidence.

Changing the text to suit you again.

I'm not upset. Not in the slightest. Relax. You seem so tense.

Just pick you favorite verse.

How exactly have I changed the text?

Like I said, "...given the caliber of the posters on this forum...".

No, but we did notice how you insult Jesus.

Still suffering with the intellectual inferiority complex I see.

How exactly do I "insult" Jesus?

BTW you edited out the following from my post:
Everyone knows that those who posit that "Everyone knows that those who insult the intelligence of others are themselves intellectually insecure" are themselves intellectually dormant.

Perhaps you know someone who can read it to you and explain to you what it means.

See my previous post.

Any chance you'll actually address the following?

Given the title of this thread, one would think that some may realize that in Matthew 16:28, Jesus is speaking of a metaphorical "death".

C3 had it pegged from the beginning:
If someone likes what a specific verse or verses say, it's literal.

If someone dislikes the message, then they either dismiss it, or convince themselves it's a metaphor.

In your case Dive, you do not want to believe in hell, so you will continue to argue against any scripture that deals with hell.

"Go and sin NO more".
Real or metaphor?

It's how Christians roll.

The Bible is what it is. The Bible is widely open to interpretation and contains inconsistencies, discrepancies and outright contradictions. Though most refuse to admit it, they pick and choose the verses and passages that support their beliefs and dismiss those that don't and often do so in a most disingenuous manner. Somehow many are able to do just that and delude themselves into believing that the entirety of the Bible is the "inerrant word of God".

When all is said and done, they use the Bible to make God in their own image.
You want a God that wants you to be rich? It's in there.
You want a God that wants separation of the races? It's in there.
You want a God that supports slavery? It's in there.
