An interesting New Testament scripture (1 Timothy 2:11-14) from Paul the architect of Christianity:
Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but [b]the woman being deceived was in the transgression[b].

It's impossible to say. Some anonymous figure from the 2nd century who wanted his writings to have an authoritative stamp on them.
but if the scripture was to be adhered to,
then it would have meaning beyond it's years and it doesn't.
It merely rubber stamps the thinking of the time which was clearly that
men had all the say about everything and women had no say at all about anything.
Today that attitude is changing rapidly as more and more women have a say now
in practically every aspect of life, and I for one, despite the fact that I am a man,
am happy about this.
You cannot have a society without equality.
Back then there was no equality. Men dominated women.
Masters dominated slaves. If "Scripture" was meant to be a lesson for people to follow then it would have been progressive and forward thinking and it would therefore stand the test of time.
It doesn't........that's why I don't rate it, it's all hocus pocus drivel.
Written by different men, not any women. 66 books written by men over 1600 years.
Not written by any GOD.

How wide is "wide"?
The fact is all the bible was written by fallible men.
It wouldn't matter who wrote it.
It would still be full of flaws.
That's why there is so much argument today over what each passage means.
All it has done is cause division not unity.
Why do you suppose there are so many different religions and not only that but different branches of the same religion?

I say, Cedric old bean,
very jolly well put.

But that doesn't make it right.
Would it not make sense to you if all intelligent people
both men and women had an input to the society in which they live?
Wouldn't that make it a more progressive better society?
