Good discussion will flow from clearly stated scripture.
"Not everything that is true or makes sense has to be scripturally supportable."
Was this just 'lip service'?
You could also, you know, just answer my questions.
Or would you rather just sit on your throne and pontificate, like you accuse sonship of doing?
Originally posted by @rajk999So far two professed Christians seem to be opposing the Gospel of Christ.
The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the teachings pertaining to the Kingdom of God. The central tenet of this Gospel preach by Christ is what one needs to do to enter the Kingdom of God.
Christians now have another gospel. This is half of the gospel of Paul and they call it the gospel concerning the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ?
Two gospels? Which is correct?
The Gospel of Christ started with the teachings of John the Baptist
The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God; As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee. The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. (Mark 1:1-4 KJV)
John was sent to prepare the way for Christ by preaching that sins are forgiven though repentance.

I was polite with my initial question.
I really wanted to know exactly what was the "good news" of your "gospel".
But you didn't want that.
All you want is to pontificate. With a damaged, incorrect doctrine.
Are you going to say ANYthing about Christ's redemptive sacrifice on the cross, the shedding of the blood of the Lamb for the salvation of all mankind?
You know, the REAL "good news" of the Gospel?
Or is all you're going to do is shovel out more baloney about how we can all "work" our OWN way to salvation?

Luke 4
16And He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up; and as was His custom, He entered the synagogue on the Sabbath, and stood up to read. 17And the book of the prophet Isaiah was handed to Him. And He opened the book and found the place where it was written,
18“THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD IS UPON ME,
BECAUSE HE ANOINTED ME TO PREACH THE GOSPEL TO THE POOR.
HE HAS SENT ME TO PROCLAIM RELEASE TO THE CAPTIVES,
AND RECOVERY OF SIGHT TO THE BLIND,
TO SET FREE THOSE WHO ARE OPPRESSED,
19TO PROCLAIM THE FAVORABLE YEAR OF THE LORD.”
20And He closed the book, gave it back to the attendant and sat down; and the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on Him. 21And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.”
Jesus clearly stated His purpose. The purpose for which He was anointed. The purpose for which He is the Christ (Christ means "anointed one" for those who are unaware):
1) To preach His gospel - These are the words He spoke while preaching His gospel during His ministry.
2) To give sight to the blind - To open the eyes of those blind to the will of God which is contained in His gospel.
3) To set free the captives - To FREE those who abide in His word from the slavery of committing sin. To FREE those who abide in His gospel (see John 8).
That's it in a nutshell. During His ministry, Jesus did exactly what He said He was going to do. This is the gospel preached by Jesus. This is the true gospel.
There is no "utter depravity of man" in the gospel preached by Jesus during His ministry.
There is no "vicarious atonement for the forgiveness of sins" in the gospel preached by Jesus during His ministry.
There is no "imputed righteousness" in the gospel preached by Jesus during His ministry.

Now if only those who want to post about what they perceive the be the Gospel can do likewise ... i guess that is asking too much.

Good luck trying to get them to do much more than ask inane questions.
Jaywill might be the only one of the regular posters who seems willing and capable of doing more than that. Of course with him the issue will be lack of brevity, lack of critical thinking skills, poor reading comprehension and so on.

I know you were talking to someone else, but ...
I will stay out of this thread that you started but in turn, I ask YOU to stay out of one that I am about to start. It may be on the use of the mouth in living unto God.
Do we have an agreement ?

There is one true gospel where God saves us by faith and where He does His works of righteousness through us. The humanistic perversion of it is that we don't have to believe in His atoning sacrifice and that we can lift ourselves up by our own shoelaces and save ourselves through our own works.

Sheep follow Christ
They hear his voice
They follow his commandments
He gives them eternal life
Goats dont hear the voice of Christ
They dont follow his commandments
He will not give them eternal life.
The day you become a sheep. We can agree.
You may have noticed that checkbaiter, a former supporter of your doctrine is now squarely on the side of Christ. Prior to now he was somewhat in your camp believing in a form of mouthworship ie profess your faith and you are saved eternally. He has now come to grips with the meat of the word of God, and he now understands the critical nature of good works and righteousness. Checkbaiter is a sheep of Christ and we are brothers in Christ.
It may take you a few more years to understand the meat of the Word ... so keep at it. The greater the indoctrination the harder it is and in your case you really need to pray and as God for help.

You’ll never be righteous (in right standing with God) until you accept Jesus Christ into your heart. You’ll never develop an aversion to sin until you do that nor will you obtain salvation without accepting Christ into your heart.
