A nonsensical doctrine indeed. Some people eventually learn how foolish it all sounds and they shift away from it.
Checkbaiter, I have a say, is a good example of such a Christian who moved away from the darkness of the once-saved-always-saved doctrine to the light of Christ. Not many have the will and God given strength to do it.
What’s nonsensical is to believe that God decided salvation was obtained by good works but didn’t specify how many good works were needed, the weighting of different good works, whether good works canceled out bad works, etc.
What’s nonsensical is to believe that salvation is obtained by following Christ’s sayings without a single error when Christ ramped up the definition of sin to include being angry at someone and looking on a woman with lust in your heart.
What’s nonsensical is to believe God’s New Covenant with man is the same as the Old Covenant - following rules and regulations.
What’s nonsensical is to disregard all the times Jesus Christ said He came down from heaven and identified as God - identified Himself as God to such an extent the Pharisees had Him put to death for blasphemy.
What’s nonsensical is to claim the crucifixion and Resurrection of Jesus Christ had no purpose; that all that matters were the words Jesus spoke while He was on earth - and then only some of His words, not all of them.
What’s nonsensical is to ignore all the Messianic prophecies in the Old Testament because they don’t fit your false doctrine.
What’s nonsensical is to claim that atheists go to heaven based on good works.
What’s nonsensical is to say Jesus Christ decides who is saved after they die when the Bible tells people how to know they’re saved before they die.

The Holy Spirit, part of the Trinity.
Clearly there is no Holy Spirit in you.

Originally posted by @rajk999You’re aware, of course, of the verse in Matthew 5 where Jesus specifically says people who call someone a fool are in danger of hell fire.

Why would you disobey Jesus’ command for something as petty as a dispute on the forum of a chess website? Have you now blown it? Did you just lose your salvation because you sinned in calling me a “damn fool?” According to ToO, you did - ToO says it’s one strike and you’re out!

You are not my brother in any way shape or form. dont flatter yourself.

That won’t stop me from exposing your false doctrines every opportunity I get.
Nice!

It seems Rajk is confusing the doing of good works because you are saved with doing good
works in order to be saved. There is an important difference between the two. The one is an outworking of the Holy Spirit and the other is your own striving to save yourself by trying to lift yourself up by your own boot straps. If the latter were possible there would have been no need for Jesus to die on the cross and no need for us to believe in the redeeming sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. The good news is that we can be reconciled with God if we believe upon the only begotten Son of God. Sadly some people still think they can earn their own salvation. So tell me this Rajk, can you earn your own salvation? Yes or No?

-Removed-I don’t distinguish between a so called “gospel of Paul” and a gospel of Jesus. You do
that’s fine.
Actually rajk999 does not. In the 10+ years I've been posting on this forum he has been making that abundantly clear. Yet people like you continue to misrepresent his position. Rajk999 is saying that many are wrong about Paul's overall message. That they take parts of what Paul said out of context and ignore the rest of what Paul said.
Why do you and others continue to misrepresent his position if not to create a straw man?

-Removed-I am making a distinction between the two only because there are some Christians who do that in a very subtle and deceptive way. The call it the New Covenant and new Dispensation, which they claim started only after Jesus left. Therefore they say that the Gospel of Christ is not applicable, and they further misinterpret Paul by saying FAITH ALONE gives eternal life.
My contention is that these two gospels are in fact the same in essence. There is no difference in the end. They both arrive at the same conclusion that
Eternal life in the Kingdom of God is obtained through Faith PLUS following the commandments of Christ
Faith and Works are two separate and distinct things.
One can have faith and not works
One can have works and not faith.
James made that point very clear
Jesus Christ is the judge of who is who.
Pauls Gospel was clearly about both faith and works. I noticed you did not address the point I made about your Ephesians 2 quote.
In Ephesians - a man is saved from sin by his faith in Christ, meaning that Christ cleansed the man and forgave him all his sins.
The man does not get eternal life because his is saved from sin.
The man gets eternal life ONLY AFTER he has both faith and good works and righteousness.
Paul was clear that born again Christians who revert to a life of sin will not enter the Kingdom of God.
Therefore Pauls doctrine is that BOTH faith AND works are necessary.
James, Peter, John and Jude ,, all prepeated the very same thing.
Thats the whole Gospel of Paul and the Apostles
