My bad, cheating on one's taxes was my point.

The notion that taxation is "evil" has plenty of traction on the right in the U.S., especially among religious fundamentalists on the right. It comes up on the Debates Forum from time to time too, where there are some who think that taxation exists means there can be no freedom.

That wasn't, many people seem to think taxing those with more than them
is far better than paying more themselves.

Taxation isn't evil in and of itself. Using it as a weapon or a tool to force
certain things to happen and stopping others could be thought of as evil
depending on what is or isn't stopped or pushed upon people.

I take this to mean that using tax as a tool to force certain things to happen and to stop other things could be thought of as "good" depending on what is or isn't stopped or encouraged in society, right?

If you are asking me is it okay to treat one differently than another, I'd
say no. Why not tax everyone equally with the same amount at all times
regardless of income? It would do away with the power of the state since
they put in the loop holes for themselves and friends. Not sure what this
line of questions have to the do with the antichrist, I'm sure you'll get to it.

Income tax really isn't an income tax it is more of a lifestyle tax since they
give breaks for some things and not others. It is control.

I didn't ask you if you had an alternative tax scheme to suggest. I asked you if you think progressive taxation "evil".

An answer to my question would be more interesting. If the "control" is for "good" ends [as, say, you perceive them] you agree with it, right?

Well it was you who suggested that people "taxing those richer than themselves" was an example of "evil". You brought it up. Not me.

I think it is unfair to tax one at a lower rate than another, so yes.

I think it shows how selfish we are! We are willing to harm another
instead of sharing the pain ourselves.

    You believe 'unfairness' = "evil"?
