I did actually. But are you denying that according to Christian doctorine that death is not the end?

In my opinion we should encourage the development of techniques in making 'body parts' in the labs. But I don't believe we are anywhere close to that right now. I think much of the opposition come from the fear of abuse. We might some day end up getting killed because someone else needs a kidney or something. Animals get killed to run tests; and thousands of animals might have to die before we are able to come up with a decent result. Then there is the debate on cloning a full living human for the purpose of making body parts to harvest later on. It makes a good after-dinner conversation on what to do with that living clone AFTER the body parts have been harvested. The list of potential problems goes on and on. BUT! I do not subscribe to the idea of resisting such knowledge on the strength of 'going against God'. If it is for the good of humans, why not? Let's be realistic. I'm not too sure that those who are against such techniques will continue to think that way if they themselves, or their loved ones, end up needing just those very techniques to go on living. God gave us brains, didn't he? Who knows, maybe it's God's indirect way of helping us?

Lab grown spares, with no chance of rejection (since they are your own cells) so no need for immuno-supressants (which can allow bacterial infections), are closer than you might think....

Here's one for fun, but I know they've grown ears as well.

Wow, awesome piece of science achievement! I guess VIAGRA will soon be obsolete, huh? But seriously, although some breakthroughs have been achieved in rats, I still think that it would take ages still to actually be applicable on humans. Not to mention other much more complicated organs like the heart, kidneys etc. Granted, it is possible, but maybe not in my lifetime (I'm 41 yrs old). Would be nice, though, if I can benefit from a new functional p***s when and if it eventually fail on me!... hehehe.

Nobody has complete freedom anyway. I cannot go out and murder someone now - it's against my own morals, and against the law. I don't care if some imagined "God" says it's okay or not.

I do live for myself though - I don't justify my continued existance through anything other than my own desire to do more science.

A mix between those instilled by my parents, and my own thoughts. Of course, society has a large influence too.
