Is this really ok? Just because the population has increased, is it ok that these problems have increased also?
Ahem.... Let me say this clearly so that you understand me.

YOU ARE NOT OFFERING ANY SOLUTION TO ANY OF THESE PROBLEMS.

WORSE, YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM.

The article you just linked to mentions evolution which is unsurprising as evolution is required to explain and understand
diseases and to combat them effectively with medicine.

... Most pathogens have short generation times and appear capable of high mutation rates and rapid evolution,
which represent important factors in disease emergence. ...

However you and your organisation spread lies about evolution and claim it isn't true.

You undermine not just the results of scientific enquiry but also and more damagingly the methods used to come to those
findings.

The article mentions Lyme disease for which there is a viable vaccine http://www.wbur.org/2012/06/27/lyme-vaccine which
you can't get and isn't being manufactured because irrational anti-vaxers launched an unfounded campaign against it that
means that now no company will make it because they can't see a profit in it and don't want the negative publicity.

The article talks about how climate change and loss of biodiversity are likely to lead to increases in frequency and severity
of disease outbreaks and yet the climate change deniers are frequently Christian (and other theist) fundamentalists who
don't think it's an issue because Jebus is going to appear soon and destroy everything and remake the earth as a paradise
in the near future and so we don't have to worry about how we treat the planet, and in fact the worse we treat it the better
because the worse we make things the more it will look like our 'predictions' of the apocalypse and so it will happen sooner.

There are problems in the world.

We want to fix them, using science and rationality, the only things that have ever been shown to work.

You want to use them to convince more people to join your religion and pray for Jebus to come and destroy everything, kill all
the non-believers throughout history (and all the believers who didn't hold quite the right irrational belief) and then remake the
world as a 'paradise' where you can spend the rest of eternity playing sycophants for your egotistical bat-guano crazy god.

Unfortunately (fortunately) your god doesn't exist, Jebus is not coming back, and the world really does have problems that
need solving.

Whether we can solve these problems or not we are at least trying.

You are just rubbing your hands with glee and saying "oh goody the apocalypse is coming".

Which is just screwed up.

Just a couple points. JW's do not believe in evolution. The evolution you are claiming that is mentioned here is mutation. It is still a virus that has adapted and by no means has evolved into something else then what it is.

The second point is there is not one JW one this planet that is "rubbing our hands with glee" about any of this. If it were up to us we would like nothing more then for all humans to learn about Jehovah, accept him as our only sourse and chance for a better life and for all to live.
And for your information he would too. He wants no one to die and suffer. If he didn't care he would not give out the warnings he has written down in his book the Bible and would not have allowed this time to continue so that all humans can have that chance to change and leave this doomed world for life.

So you can be as blind and foolish as you choose to be and with your statements like these you've made, it is you that is in the dark.....

Well, I have never claimed these problems are "insignificant", so this is more deception and dissembling on your part - and clearly deliberate in this case. They are obviously significant problems. But they are being tackled. Mankind has never been so well placed to prevent, combat or mitigate problems such as these. You choose to interpret these problems as signs that the 'end is nigh'. Why should anyone take this "significance" you place upon them seriously?

Why aren't you contributing to the efforts to prepare for the next "killer flu", for instance? Are you involved in tackling the problems that you say are signs of the end being nigh? Why are you spending time in Kingdom Hall [which perhaps an aspect of the "rubbing our hands with glee" googlefudge is referring to] and why are spending time - spectacularly ineffectively - on doorsteps if there are serious problems out there to be addressed? Why this cop-out that the world is doomed?

The world recovered from the 1918 “Spanish flu". It handled the pandemics in 1957 and 1968 relatively easily. Thanks to scientific progress and the wider and wider distribution of health infrastructure, we are well placed to deal with the next “killer flu.” Do you think "flu" is a sign that the "end times" are near?
Pestilence -- one of the signs of the end times:

Pestilence, one of the four Horsemen of the Apocalypse symbolizing plague (contagious disease) in some interpretations of the book of Revelation.

"I looked, and there before me was a pale horse! Its rider was named Death, and Hades was following close behind him. They were given power over a fourth of the earth to kill by sword, famine and plague, and by the wild beasts of the earth."
(Rev 6:8 NIV)

Jesus, in his Olivet prophecy, speaks of "great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places" (Luke 21:7-11).

These days, there are rapidly appearing new strains of viruses and bacteria with previously unknown characteristics.

There are new and highly-resistant strains of the Tuberculosis disease.

AIDS is a disease caused by a virus that attacks the human immune system. Over 34 million people are infected worldwide, and no cure is available.

Necrotizing fasciitis is brought about by a mutated streptococcus, the so-called "flesh-eating bacteria".

A virus know only as X arose from the primeval rain forests of southern Sudan in 1993, killed thousands of people, and then disappeared. Nobody knows when or where it may reappear nor how to treat it if it does return.

The Ebola virus of Africa is being nervously monitored by scientists concerned with its virulence and lethality.

Hantavirus pulmonary syndrome was discovered and described in the US in 1993. It is a rodent-borne virus spread through droppings, saliva and urine. It is especially lethal; about half of the cases, have ended in death.

The so-called Legionnaires' disease regularly threatens collections of people exposed to conditioned air under certain circumstances.

Cholera has lately grown into widespread epidemics in both India and Russia.

Diphtheria in Russia is growing again due to poor sanitation and shortages of vaccines.

Malaria, caused by protozoans injected into the blood stream by the bite of certain mosquitoes, still causes one million deaths worldwide each year.

Smallpox epidemic destroyed the Aztec and Incan cultures. It now exists only as a purposefully-maintained viral culture at sites such as the Center for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta. As long as it exists anywhere in the world, it has the potential to be used in a terribly lethal form of "germ warfare".

The history of plague infections of humans is extensive, and plague bacteria are considered to be biological weapons by some governments.

Some scientists fear that a crisis could occur unless urgent steps are taken to tackle the problem now.

Christ said, "When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near... Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man" (Luke 21:28,36).

HalleluYah !!! Praise the Lord!

Another issue that I have with JW's is there anti-education stance. If educated maybe a JW could be the next one to come up with a cure to say......like cancer or something.

There has been pestilence and disease all down through history and until relatively recently mankind was utterly powerless in the face of it. We have never been so well placed to prevent, combat or mitigate health problems and threats.

Has it crossed your mind that only God can cure these problems all together and forever or do you just "hope" that man can do it?
Have you ever prayed to God to stop these things or do you just "hope" man can do it?

It appears that man is still powerless because they still exists and many without cures.
