Yes..always a sign of weakness when a team has to get help from others to win the league
Its shaping up to be just like most Premiership seasons, in fact its been made an even harder challenge this year, not by the teams around us though.
First things first, Liverpool top of the league, ROFL another false dawn i'm afraid as recent results have shown.
Gerrard has to play at top form every game for them to get a result and at his age (as were seeing) he can't do it every game anymore.
Also I really can't remember when Liverpool actually last played like title contenders and put in a good performance.
Chelsea not as strong as they have been but with Carvalho and Essien back soon they will have a strong run in the 2nd half of the season.
They still have more than 2 points per game which is ok at the mid point of the season.
Arsenals slow decline over recent years is gaining rapid momentum as has been predicted by many on here, poor dicky can he see it yet?
Looks like the "top 4" are about to lose a member as Arsenal free fall into mid table obscurity.
Finally we have Manchester United the English, European and World Champions.
- United always have a strong 2nd half of the season.
- If we win our games in hand (at home) against Wigan and Fulham we are 2 points from the top
- Played 16 games with 7 at home and 9 away. The 9 away games have been against the top 9 teams below United last season. Looks like we have a bunch of easy games coming up ๐
- United have all the momentum now. Recently crowned World Champions, soon to be crowned League Cup winners. Big positives all the way.
- Having to do it the hard way as usual in the Champions League getting Inter Milan, United will have to raise their game just when they need to.
- Last season I had people on here telling me how bad United were and how it had all gone wrong.
We had 2 games left to win the league and in the final of the Champions League, the rest is history.
United under Sir Alex have always shown that when they have a chance they will do whats needed to win.
Well this season could be the greatest yet, right now I can't see anything stopping a quadrouple heading to Old Trafford๐
-Removed-The World Club Championship is a lot bigger outside of England.
Its followed by a lot of people and winning any cup is great.
Also United are the only English team to have won it.
You bring up some points:-
1) We both agree that Chelsea will get stronger and also may buy to help the team.
2) United are stronger than last season, we've just had an extreamly difficult set of fixtures to deal with. Right now Chelsea look weaker and Terry seems to be a shadow of the player he was. Chelsea will be back though when you get players back and Drogba finds some form.
3) Chelsea have lost the invincible presance they had. They were 4 years unbeaten at home. Chelsea haven't won the league for 3 years so this is all in Uniteds favour.
4) I wouldn't say United have a tendancy to fade, quite the opposite. Last season Arsenal were nearly 8 points clear with 8 weeks to go. United have a tendancy to have a strong 2nd half to the season and usually just do enough to win (when in contention).
5) The Ronaldo saga will continue however this season he isn't the main man, its Rooney. Also lets not forget the Drogba saga which if anything is more disruptive. Ronaldo won't confirm or deny anything, Drogba openly says he wants out, hardly what you need when challenging. Isn't Alex saying the same?
Maybe thats why Chelsea fell short last season๐
-Removed-Who was in it? The champions of all the continent's confederation cups. Which means to qualify, you had to out perform the best teams from each continent. Which United did last season, as did Quito: last season's best South American team.
Question for you about this petty little cup. How many times have Chelsea qualified to participate? What? Zero? For a lame cup? Wow, they're not even good enough to qualify for the cup so it's meaningless? Ok.
Why are we still hearing lame (pardon the pun) excuses about Chelsea's injury list. Give me a month long Terry injury, I'll raise you Gary Neville missing for the season (team captains), give me a Drogba injury, I'll raise you Saha missing practically the entire season, mention somebody else being out, I'll tell you about Park missing half the season. Whine about Essien, I'll remind you of Hargreaves' tendonitis. Whinge about Lampard's thigh muscle strain, I'll point out Carrick's dislocated elbow. I could go on, and on and on.
Read my post on this page to see what United had to deal with at the start of the season.

It's funny. It seems to be becoming a habit of Chelsea and their fans to blame a couple of injuries on them winning nothing.

You might have to.
Neville is utter tosh, captain or not, while Terry is decent (even if not half as good as he's portrayed to be).
Drogba (especially before this season and he's talking about the previous one) owns Saha so much it's almost an insult to name them in the same breadth.
Comparing Essien with Hargreaves, again, is pure delusion. Lampard and Carrick, also not in the same league (although to a lesser degree).
But I agree with you that injuries are part of the game. They're unfortunate, but they don't remove any merit away from the winners.
