It hasn't even opened yet, but construction has been halted for now. In fact:
"Many South Korean companies have banned all work-related travel to the U.S. or are recalling personnel already there, according to local media reports. Construction work on at least 22 U.S. factory sites has reportedly been halted."

“ Great, a plant which employs 1200 workers ”
How does the plant employ 1200 workers if it hasn’t opened yet?
There are TWO plants…
The Hyundai electric vehicle plant which employs 1200. (No change there)
Your article tried to make it appear 1200 people were put out of work. (That is a lie)
The plant the illegals were removed from is a joint venture. Hyundai/LG plant (batteries)is under construction.
The Hyundai electric vehicle plant which employs 1200 was unaffected. You stated they were out of a job…a lie

Yeah this is false. Where did you hear that?
There are credible news reports that Korean companies have not just halted this project, but at least 22 other construction projects are now on hold because of this.
Korean workers treated like criminals and denied vusas for projects that Washington politicians lobbied for. The number of total Americans employed by Korean companies is huge.

“AI Overview
US immigration officers raid Hyundai's electric vehicle site ...
Yes, Hyundai is operating in Georgia at the Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) facility, which began producing electric vehicles in October 2024, though a separate battery manufacturing plant with LG Energy Solution is still under construction. Despite a recent federal immigration raid that resulted in the arrest of hundreds of workers, Hyundai stated that its vehicle production was not affected, though the start of the battery plant's production has been delayed.
Key Facts:
Location:
HMGMA is in southeast Georgia, near Savannah.
Activities:
The plant manufactures electrified vehicles, including the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 9, and has plans to build a joint venture battery plant.
Production Status:
Vehicle production started in October 2024, but the battery plant, in partnership with LG Energy Solution, has delayed its production start until 2026 due to market conditions and the recent raid.
Economic Impact:
The project represents a major economic development for Georgia, with plans for over 8,500 on-site workers and significant job creation at suppliers.
Recent Developments:
Federal Raid:
In early September 2025, federal agents conducted a raid at the Metaplant, arresting hundreds of workers for alleged immigration violations.
Production Impact:
While Hyundai has confirmed that its electric vehicle production at the Metaplant is unaffected, the sister battery plant's production start has been pushed back, impacting plans for Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis vehicles.
Company Response:
Hyundai is cooperating with the investigation and monitoring the situation, with a company spokesperson stating it is too early to determine the full operational impact of the raid. ”

The project is halted. Or AI says "pushed back". Same thing. If they decide to move forward, they need work visas issues for their engineers who were briefly put in prison and just flew back to Korea, 2-8 months wait for those.
Easily avoidable. The work stoppage at all the other construction sites is probably for the same paperwork issue. Do we want companies to build here or not?

@Mott-The-Hoople saidLol what? You're talking about a different factory that was already built was unaffected by this raid which was the thread topic?
The Hyundai electric vehicle plant is unaffected.
They needed Korean engineers to build the factory. The work visas take forever so they cut corners. Our government though this was so egregious that they arrested all of them and shipped them back to Korea and now the project is halted and 22 others are questionable.
What about this topic does AI think is false?
@wildgrass saidIt was maurauder that was referencing the wrong factory when he claimed 1200 people were out of work.

I corrected him.
You said my info was false.
I corrected you.
@Mott-The-Hoople saidI don't know what marauder was referring to, but there were a lot of construction workers working there legally who are not working today because of the raid.

The 1200 number seems low for the car manufacturing plant, the number I heard was 15,000.

I know you want to blame Biden for this?
@AverageJoe1 saidIt's an analogy, a made-up story. That's all you got.
Do you? The govt loaned our protagonist $10K, he did not pay it back. I asked Marauder to explain the nature of the govt being 'out' $10K , having never had it paid back by the scammer. He could answer it in one sentence, like you would, like I would, but curiously he does not.
So, this issue has evolved to something else, it WAS about loan facts. The issue now, is, Why will Marauder not answer the question????
Newsflash: Nobody cares about your stupid, made-up stories.
@Mott-The-Hoople saidWho indeed.
was not my intent...but...who let all these illegals in?
For decades, we had open immigration from Europe.
Why is that okay, but from anywhere south of the border is not okay?
You racist bastards don't even want a path to citizenship for these people.
All because you're afraid how they might vote.
You fools don't want "illegals" here, whatever that means.
Then give them a legal path, instead of shutting them out because of the color of their skin or because you don't speak their language.
You people are sick.

I admit I misread the article which came out 5 days ago. The actual temporary(?) loss of jobs is even worse though and the construction delay endangers the entire project which is slated to create 8500 jobs as we've already shown you.
