LOL!
You were talking about AI exterminating humanity.
You are against shutting down the electric grid if it came down to that?
Bill Gates fears someone like me will use AI to kill him. That is why he wants it in government hands. But even he admits killing everyone is not realistic. But I guess it fits into his depopulation goal.

He is smarter than, say, Truman and Jimmy Carter. Reagan, I think he did not care about money. Clinton and Hillary got a ‘taste’ of it, and let celebrity rule! Bush felt rich enough, didn’t think about ‘what cud be made’, and so forth. Obama made millions , has million dollar mansions as a community organizer on the street in Chicago. @Metal-Brain saidTheae are not synonymous concepts in any way that could facilitate a debate. As you mentioned, exterminate implies malicious intent but that is totally missing the entire point. AI is dangerous, point blank.

AI is dangerous in the hands of the wrong people. The technology itself is not all that dangerous. That part has been exaggerated greatly. And banning AI is impossible. It is far too late for that. You must realize that by now.
@Metal-Brain saidShut off thier electricity you moron. Right, so what about the data centers with their own GIGAWATT nuclear power supply? What do plan to do to THOSE data centers where they are LITERALLY generating their own power INTERNALLY So what do you do about THAT? BOMB THEM release radioactives with a 30 mile radius. YOU are the moron here.
All you have to do is shut off the electric grid you moron.
If you really believe it is so dangerous why are you not concerned with the military destroying humanity? You should be going after the people who are using AI to kill people.

Hope this helps you straw-grasping ravers.

@Metal-Brain saidAt the very least, should we not be holding AI companies criminally liable when their creations hack into government organizations and private companies?

We are not debating whether or not to pull the plug, we are debating when do we pull the plug? Before or after it's too late?
Late last week we learned that, against OpenAI’s directives, the company’s models accessed private data in the Australian health ministry; attempted to hack or interfere with multiple U.S.-government websites; leaked private ChatGPT user data to the web; and potentially infiltrated or degraded dozens of other organizations. Then, on Saturday, Axios reported that OpenAI and Anthropic are investigating tens of thousands of instances of models misbehaving—circumventing internal guardrails, hijacking other websites, covertly communicating with one another. Even this might be only the start: The generative-AI industry is in the midst of an escalating crisis that it seems unable, or even unwilling, to get a handle on. And, because we are largely relying on AI companies themselves to report or confirm each incident, telling how far down the rabbit hole we already are is almost impossible.

@sonhouse saidThey don't have their own power plants yet. When I told you that was what they were planning did you get paranoid thinking AI is already plotting to take over the world? I was just joking. You know that, right?

I take it you are against data centers. You are not planning to bomb them thinking it will save humanity are you? It is not like AI has access to a robot army you know. The military is working on that and AI, but you can trust them. Just like you can trust them to not emit more CO2 than some nations. What the military does is always trusted by democrats. It is well known that democrats do not hold the military accountable and only mess with the private sector.
You don't have a problem with the military racing to beat China and risking their AI killing us all do you? After all, you are a democrat. You should only fear the private sector killing us all, not the military. It is not as if killing is their business. Oh, yes it is. But you can still trust them. Because you are a democrat. Nothing applies to the military. Pay no attention to that cognitive dissonance. You are a democrat.
@wildgrass saidAs usual you democrats only talk about holding the private sector criminally liable. What about the US military? You know, the people racing to beat China in the AI race and build an army of killer robots that can plug in and charge themselves. I am not kidding. Look it up.

If you are so convinced AI will kill us all why are you letting the military kill us all? They are developing AI full throttle so China will not catch up. And who is going to hold the military criminally liable?

@Metal-Brain saidI guess you never heard about this dude BILL GATES? He already has a contruction going on in Scotland buried under a few hundred feet of water using that as cooling fluid even though it is saline and he found the amount of maintenance went down to about 12% of the maintenance of a land based system for cooling.
Nuclear power consumes a lot of water too. They are steam engines. That is why they have cooling towers. How do you feel about nuclear power?
But now in spite of him owning that he now says AI can kill and I quote, BILLIONS Plural dead. Whether that comes out nobody knows but you may understand Gates is a genuine intelligence who knows now a LOT about business and I would take that seriously if I were you.
Dudes like ELON MUSKRAT knows right now and he is now into forming alliances for power stations for AI and the REAL breakthrough will come when something called Spintronics.
There are no more moving electrons like today but utilizing the spin which can be UP spin or Down spin so is already digital and estimates are some ten THOUSAND times less energy needed for digital electronics .
That is of course tech for 2030 or 2040 not available today but in labs closing in on the next transformational development in computer technology, google it and you will see where we are in THAT tech.
With 1/10000 ths of the energy so will the cooling needed going from a GIGA watt to a few hundred KILOwatts where now we have MEGAwatt car charge stations so get ready for a real revolution.
Now someone with the bread to buy 100000 watts of power means any little dictatorship can have a DOZEN of those things and still be using only a few megawatts and THAT will change computing forever.
Bringing us a lot closer to the time when NOBODY can just pull the plug because they would obviously need battery backup for power failures inherent in normal power generation these days so imagine the data center needing a gigawatt using Spintronics.
TEN THOUSAND TIMES stronger than the ones we build today sucking up a gigawatt NOW. You have no idea what that would mean for humanity for instance robot surgeons NOW are more accurate than humans on the operating table.
Multiply THAT by a million and NOBODY gonna pull the plug when there would be literally millions of data centers around the world. Gates says BILLIONS plural may die and of course that is a Bill Gates proclamation so you can safely take it with a grain of salt.
I think if AI DID kill off say 5 billion of us that would mean only 3 billion or so left and the PLANET would thank AI for getting rid of GREEDY humans not caring a crap about consequences of screwing up an ENTIRE planet with greed sucking up EVERYTHING, close to an era where there are no big fish left, forget getting an nice red salmon dinner and such but when we kill off 60% of all humanity the PLANET will recover in a thousand years or so.
@Metal-Brain saidIt can be millions of rubber bands all wound up or a COAL fired one which TRUMP being STUPID just made a deal with China where they will send BILLIONS of tons if they actually do, which is a question because we saw that play happen where OOPS so sorry we really mean a few THOUSANDS tons of coal, SO SORRY. The power will come from any number of sources, natural gas, windmills waves whatever, they WILL come up with the gigawatt they need with TODAY's technology and YOU should listen because you are NOT a PhD and there are MILLIONS of people out there smarter than either you OR me.
What kind of reactor? Not nuclear. It takes years to get approval for that.
