@sh76 saidThere's academic studies showing that even having a black sounding name makes you less likely to get a job interview even with an identical resume to a white sounding one.
Of course not, because GPA is not the only indicator of talent for a specific job.
Race, on the other hand, except when the job is community outreach or acting the part of Malcolm X, has zero do to with talent for the job.
I've hired hundreds of people for part and full time roles. There are times that I have given minority candidates extra consideration because in the pub ...[text shortened]... iring a data analyst or a tax consultant, because race is utterly irrelevant - as it is with pilots.
@Sleepyguy saidYou, like most right wingers, don't even know what the word "racism" means.
You do accept the pernicious effect on human beings from systemic racism, and thus ensure its continuation.
@sh76 saidSo you routinely request your doctors' college transcripts?
It's the age old question: Do you want the doctor who only got into medical school due to a set-aside (or legacy... I really don't want to make this just about race) to operate on you?
Even though the doctor went through medical school, and the internship, etc., I don't think I want to be operated on by the doctor who wasn't talented enough to get into medical school without ...[text shortened]... up in law school, but these training programs alone can't be relied on to weed out the incompetent.
@no1marauder saidYeah you're a smarty pants lefty lawyer who understands all the nuance of things and I'm so dumb. Tell it the individual getting passed over because of their skin color, all so you can feel some justice is being done to a historically wronged group.
You, like most right wingers, don't even know what the word "racism" means.

@sh76 said"No, a business in the USA cannot legally refuse to hire minorities based on their race, as this would be a violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits employment discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. Such actions are illegal and can result in significant penalties for the business.
===the LAW in the USA says one must hire minorities that apply for a job equal to their population in the USA===
This is a false statement. I mean objectively false... not gray area.
The law in the US says no such thing. Ask No1 if you don't believe me.
Why it's illegal:
Protected Characteristics: Race and color are protected characteristics under federal law, meaning employers cannot make employment decisions based on them.
Scope of Discrimination: This prohibition includes refusing to hire, as well as discrimination in promotion, pay, job training, and other aspects of employment.
Title VII: The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) enforces Title VII, which makes it illegal for employers to discriminate against applicants or employees because of their race or color.
What employers can do (and can't):
Focus on Job-Related Qualifications: Employers must make hiring decisions based on a candidate's skills and qualifications, not their race or ethnicity.
Avoid Discriminatory Practices: Policies that disproportionately harm specific racial groups, even if they seem neutral, can also be unlawful if they are not job-related and consistent with business necessity.
Equal Opportunity: Employers should strive to provide a level playing field for all applicants and may legally advertise to encourage diverse applicants from underrepresented groups.
In summary, any action by a business to refuse to hire a minority candidate because of their race is considered illegal employment discrimination under U.S. law" [Goggle A.I.]. 🙂

@no1marauder saidI had to look it up to know for sure, that there is absolutely ZERO data supporting the idea that black airline pilots are less qualified. The assertion is unfounded. Charlie Kirk is saying it anyways, because freedom of speech or whatever.
There's academic studies showing that even having a black sounding name makes you less likely to get a job interview even with an identical resume to a white sounding one.
I think I'm beginning to understand the genius of Charlie Kirk. As a rhetorical tool, he uses airplanes as places where you put your life in someone elses hands for a few hours. This makes a lot of people anxious, so the rhetoric hits harder than saying "maybe my janitor wasn't qualified". Then you plant the seed that maaaaybe the person flying the plane got the job without going through the rigorous, intense training that in reality is required for all pilots. While untrue, people believe it because its been said by someone like Charlie Kirk who has built up a swarm of followers. He is "telling it like it is" and "engaging" with liberals, which can be considered a good thing in the right context.
But here, it is not. Sixteen year old boys are being brainwashed into thinking that minorities in important jobs are less qualified. Ketanji Brown Jackson was insanely qualified to be a SCOTUS judge. She had a resume way longer than Amy Barrett (who was also qualified, just not more qualified than Jackson was). But still, Kirk plants the seed that she was a DEI hire and therefore less intelligent than white people.
@wildgrass saidAsk those who make those commits, American colleges are hostile to conservatives voices.
I have looked into it because I also had never heard of the guy until this week. I am still waiting to see a good example of the respect and heroism that right wingers are insisting on. Do you have a good example to share?
@KingDavid403 saidWhat are you talking about?
100% BS! Those kids shot and killed in school shootings did not do a damn thing wrong; unlike your worthless Charlie Kirk the pos.
Those dem political leaders in Minnesota that were murdered by a supposed Christian MAGA Republican freak didn't do a damn thing wrong either you worthless fool.
Get a grip on reality. Charlie Kirk is gone and the world is a much better place because of that. Thank you Lord Jesus. 🙂 God is Good ALL the Time! eh? 🙂
@wildgrass saidI’d have start looking, as I said I seen them hit and miss. You could simply pull up a few yourself.
No one celebrated his murder.
What is a good example of one Charlie kirk YouTube video you liked?

@KellyJay saidI have seen some that are not great. Wondering where he earned the high praise he is receiving from the New York times and elsewhere. Someone here called him a hero. What ideas is he known for supporting?

@Sleepyguy saidnobody is getting passed over because of dei. it just makes sure you don't recruit just from white 30 year old white men called steve. It makes sure you interview at least a stacy. at least a 50 year old man. at least some persons of color. maybe someone who didn't go to harvard but maybe some other university
Yeah you're a smarty pants lefty lawyer who understands all the nuance of things and I'm so dumb. Tell it the individual getting passed over because of their skin color, all so you can feel some justice is being done to a historically wronged group.
and after that, if you think the white guy is the best, you are free to hire him.
ya dingbat
@Suzianne saidIf DEI was a real problem as it related to unqualified people getting into positions of power, then why make up a fake example instead of stating something based on facts and data?
@wildgrass
"Anti-DEI" and "anti-woke" are code words for racism, plain and simple.
@no1marauder saidthat is because of reputation.
There's academic studies showing that even having a black sounding name makes you less likely to get a job interview even with an identical resume to a white sounding one.
you try to deny that which is real
part of the brainwashing of the left
to the point they will kill anyone that tells them their life is a lie
