Nice to know the Bible tells me to hit my children with a piece of wood until they fear me.

Are there any other weak and defenceless people the Good Book encourages me to beat up?

As a Republican, d ...[text shortened]... w which weak and defenceless people can be beaten up? I am looking for divine guidance here.

Look if you discipline your child, latter on in life he will probably thank you. But remember this we live in a Sinful world so there is no such thing as the Perfect Parents.

I have raised three children, and now have a grand-daughter.

I have never claimed to be a perfect parent - but I never hit them with a pieice of wood. And I would never encourage other parents to do this.

What makes you an expert on children?

In my county of 4 million people we have one of the highest rates of physical abuse of children in the world. Every year, thousands of children are badly beaten - some just bruises, others to broken bones and ruptured interenal organs. Many are killed by their parents - up to half a dozen a year are beaten to death.

It is easy to blame the parents - but the rest of us can also do something about it. One way is to move away from the moderate violence most parents use so the use of violence becomes less common. It is a change in social attitude - not because mainstream parents kill children but because in a culture where children are regularly beaten the badly abused child is harder to spot.

I think advcoating viiolence against children is idiocy.

Remember MOSES had a speech problem to just like me, you can read about it in Exodus if you ever read your Bible.Don't forget I have Dyslicsia.

Exodus 4:10
Moses said to the LORD , "O Lord, I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue."

And remember there are a lot of Reta ...[text shortened]... accept Christ into their Hearts and they are called just as all Christians to Preach the Gospel.
Remember that most people in this thread have been pointing out the error in reading the bible as the word of god. For one it is just a collection of stories, for another it was written by man and therefore is not perfect.
How about for once you answer an argument with your own thoughts rather than just blinding quoting from a book. Would that be too much to ask?

You're picking out one tiny section. Jesus dying on the cross didn't occur throughout the novel, just one wee section.

Tell us again why we should beat our children with a stick. I didn't quite get the message in the first lesson.

But you're the pastor of RHP. I choose to ask you because I have been subjected to more preaching by u than any other type of prieshteen in the past 8 years. It is you I choose to turn to for answers to my questions. Are you choosing to ignore a possible sheep? Would jesus love you if you picked and chose your disciples?

That's the thing. What if we don't believe that that's what the bible is? It's a collection of stories. I agree, many have merit and meaning even 2000 years later. However many do not. What about in Leviticus, near where it claims homosexuality is a sin, it talks of not planting crops where different crops had been and not wearing mixed fabrics. Well if we follow the first one our agricultural industry will collapse and you will not find anyone on earth who has always followed the second one. Do those still need to be followed? Why are they different from homosexuality?

You're right, I would listen.

Why do you consider me such a waste of time. Surely any of gods children can be converted at any time. Could you point me in the direction of the biblical quote which says, 'if at first you fail, give up and condemn the pupil to eternal hell'.

I thank you and may hamster bless you in your quest.

You have no children and say you are not an expert on children.

So why are you telling parents to use violence on children?
