Hell yeah. The US is the fattest nation on Earth.
Fat, soft, squidgy, no back-bone (or they'd have finished off Vietnam in the 60's).

Hell, I've seen leaner and meaner retired sumo-wrestlers.

I condemn this transparent ploy by the Dalai Lama to detract attention from the Olympic Games.

But let's ban cigarettes from pubs, whilst we send our athletes into the mist...

Georgia has been trying to get into NATO for a long time. Russia could not allow this on their boarder. They just needed an excuse to enter Georgia and Georgia was dumb enough to fire the first shots. They were hoping the US and Nato would come to their aid. Georgia may as well kiss their independence goodby. The oil pipeline is now under Russian control. Imagine that!

Oh yeah, Austrailia has just been pronounced the fattest nation on earth with GB close behind the US.

GREANNY.

I wonder if in the Middle East they say "no oil for war"?

That was kind of the point of the comment.

They are my neighbors, dude. I do know how mighty AND threatening they are... My comment was tongue in cheek, of course.

Except the part that 'they did it again' and how much I feel threatened by them.

I have lived my life in two places, one next to the U.S. and one next to Russia. The feeling is the same: Fear.
Not to worry, my good friend. Your nation hasn't much strategic importance to the Soviets. Just don't become an energy competitor. Har! Russia does have an expansionist history, but if they try it again, they'll be more strategic about it. You're new homeland is safe from all but intimidation.

Just a reminder: with the breakup of the Soviet Union, Russia peacefully and voluntarily gave up huge chunks of the terrritory.

Yes. And now Soviet era KGB is in power of a more wealthy nation than when it broke up. Worse yet, Russians feel disrespected and while they might not think a return to Soviet era is best, they most certainly prefer being the world power they once were over being discounted by the world. And in truth, Russia probably hasn't gotten the respect it could have because it hasn't asserted itself all that much.
