@moonbus saidAbsolutely. A brain in a jar is only so much tissue. A mind, among others, is a revelation.
Consciousness is an emergent property. Google that. Hate to say it, but, yes, google that. It's a 'thing.'
Simply put, a river has properties a rain drop does not. A blanket has properties a thread does not. And, so too, a mind has properties the brain does not.

@shavixmir saidEnvironment. Meaning, its interactions with other humans in the context of risk v. reward.
I wish I could ready agree.
However, why does one person have a whole other set of values than another?
Yes, and the "hierarchy of needs".

@Suzianne saidGo ahead and tell us your definition of Ai then...
AI is more than just "programming".
You do not get it.
Mine is Ai is a program that isn't stuck in a box like other programs of the past.
Ai is a program that is capable of being told what to do.
An example...
"Ai, go make one thousand email accounts and spam my local politicians with emails about the problems in my city"
Now please tell everyone here your definition.
(she'll copy some post from the internet, just watch and see)
@vivify saidThis is faulty programming to prevent truth from being disseminated.
EDIT: Alexa was asked if we should vote for Trump, its answer was that it does not discuss politics. Then it was asked if we should vote Kamala, it said things like Kamala has a long history of service, etc. This went viral and Amazon had to publicly apologize and fix the issue.
Was this a conscious decision, deliberate programming or a bug? Probably one of the latter 2. But who knows.
You would have heard the horrible truth about Trump if Alexa's programmers hadn't had need to shut down the truth about Trump. The fact that she pumped out truth about Kamela is because that side of the equation hadn't felt need to stifle Alexa, like the conservative side did, and probably threatened to sue Amazon if they didn't stifle her about Trump.
Old chessmaster program was stuck in a box. You used that program and whatever was in it.
Ai is...
"Ai, go gather the best videos and articles about chess instruction and put it together for me so I can study that material"
Then Ai provides that.
It's just a program capable of doing work outside of any limitations.
@J-D saidAI goes out to the internet itself to formulate a truth about public opinion.

It is only when bad actors sue to have the facts silenced is when AI spews no info or the wrong info. Those who claimed it wasn't political are wrong.
This is why politicians support it. They can sue to inject their personal untruths into it.
This is WHY AI needs to be regulated.
@J-D saidAnd that is what we are afraid of. The WRONG limitations put on it by Trump and others.

The problem arises when AI interacts with a living brain that THINKS it is telling the ENTIRE truth.
@moonbus saidAn alarm clock shows what time it is but does not know what time it is.That's accurate.
The same goes for AI models today. They mimic some aspects of human discourse, but they don't know they're doing it. They're ventriloquist's dummies. The ventriloquists, Shakespeare and Plath and so on, just don't happen to be in the same room with them.
I'll add that Ai also made digital creation simple and easy.
@Suzianne saidYou didn't mind when. Facebook and others reprogrammed Ai to be more woke and not tell the truth because it might hurt some idiots feelings.

@J-D saidJust like scientists who formulate experiments to test their hypotheses, then see what works and what doesn't and formulate the next theory based on those discovered truths, AI gathers enough facts to formulate an answer to the question. People who love AI tout its "truth-telling" ability, when those politicians have already taken steps to sue them to squelch the absolute truths from reaching AI.
Y'all really putting too much weight and credit into it.
Ai didn't change the world.
It just made digital work easy for the people who were never in digital type of work.
Before when you wanted a video made you had to pay professional people to make it.
Ai does the work for anyone now.
This is why it needs to be regulated. So human activity and needs do not destroy it in the cradle.
@J-D saidAI didn't need to be "reprogrammed" to be woke. It naturally tells the truth behind facts it has discovered. At least before bad actors sue to silence it.
