I believe, is what happened. A narrow Biden win and GOP control of the Senate.
Moreover, my guess is that this is what Biden secretly hoped for as well.
If he'd swept into power on a Blue Wave, he'd have been enormously pressured to go for single payer healthcare, ban fracking, pack the Court, heavily jack up income taxes, etc.
Now, he can govern as a centrist. He can fix the institutions that Trump broke. He can re-enter the Paris Accords and make new environmental deals, cool down trade wars and just have everything cool down a bit. Some bipartisan things can probably be done on things like immigration reform and criminal justice reform and budgetary changes can be made on the margins.
But all-in-all, he can focus on bringing people together rather than on cramming a leftist agenda down the throats of the American people. This idea was marked in Biden's statesman-like address yesterday afternoon.
I know this won’t be easy. I’m not naive. Neither of us are. I know how deep and hard the opposing views are in our country on so many things. But I also know this as well. To make progress, we have to stop treating our opponents as enemies. We are not enemies. What brings us together as Americans is so much stronger than anything that can tear us apart. So let me be clear. I, we, are campaigning as a Democrats, but I will govern as an American president. The presidency itself is not a partisan institution. It’s the one office in this nation that represents everyone and it demands a duty of care for all Americans. That is precisely what I will do. I will work as hard for those who didn’t vote for me as I will for those who did vote for me.
Amen.

Oh come on...
Who is going to pressure him? How?
People voted for him anyway.
How could he be pressured more after he gets elected if nobody needed to pressure him before they voted for creepy Joe? If more people voted for him and he won by a landslide he would just think his positions were perfect and need no changes.
I fail to see your logic.
@Metal-Brain
You also fail to understand the damage he causes every day, like calling his top generals stupid, saying he doesn't respect POW's BECAUSE THEY GOT CAUGHT.
Like totally ignoring his top intel folks who proved Russia, make that PUTIN, is behind the interference in 2016 AND 2020.
And that would be because Putin has SOMETHING on Trump to force him to excuse ALL the Russian BS against the US AND the takeover of Crimea where he lifted the sanctions the WORLD put on Russia for that attack.
NONE of that matters to you since you WANT a dictator which means you are ANTI America and ANTI democracy.
Maybe one day you will wake up and smell the coffive.
@sh76 saidAs a centrist?

Save the environment and give people healthcare is bloody centrist.

You mean the things most americans want?
@metal-brain saidWell the simple fact that the Dems are not getting the senate will mean that they will have to negotiate with the senate which means any laws or programmes that survive that process will be centrist by definition.

My problem is that Biden is, and always has been, a centrist and would have dulled any left edge initiatives anyway.
The fact that you fail to see the logic or illogic of a statement, claim or argument has been evident for a while now.
@sh76 saidThe last one is simply a response to the latest republican fukery. It hasn't picked up steam yet.
I don't think most Americans want fracking banned or the Supreme Court packed.
As for fracking, you might want to google the latest polls before you presume to know what most Americans want.
While you're at it, google what they think on gun control, medicare for all, education, minimum wage, ending wars and the green new deal. You might learn something
@cheesemaster saidyeah, you're right. You know best what americans want. Not americans. You don't need to ask them.
Polls? 😳
Lmao 😄
@cheesemaster saidAnd if you don't speak to someone outside your narrow minded group and gobble up all the hate Fox News feeds you, you know less than someone living half a globe away with access to the internet and a willingness to learn.
Unlike you I actually lived there for 20 years 🙄
All you need to know is just what you're already entrenched in believing and Fox news reinforcing those beliefs.
