It is a scam. Tariffs do not tax China or other exporters. It is a tax on Americans and not enough to reduce people buying those imports. It did not help the trade deficit at all.

US customers do not HAVE to cover the cost of the tariff. They can pay 0% of the tariff just by buying American and leaving the importer with goods he cannot sell.

Nope. That is exactly why I am calling it a scam. Trump and Biden did not make them more expensive than domestic products. If that were true you would be able to show me a closing of the gap in the trade deficit.
The Tariff scam was never meant to curb the amount of imports coming here. It is a way to tax Americans by raising the cost of imports and nothing more.

That sound good in theory, but you have to raise the prices of imports so it is more than domestic products. THEY NEVER DID THAT! Hence the reason the trade deficit was unaffected. We are not buying less imports. Get that through your thick skull!
