Except, after WWII, Democrat presidents like Truman and Johnson started supporting civil rights laws and that led to a mass exodus of racists from the Democratic Party. Where'd they go? That's right, the Republican Party.

150 yeas go, LOL. your pathetic view of history is quite generous here.

I was a teen when Rosa Parks stood up to "Negros to the back of the bus".
I was a teen when vestiges of separate but equal still swirled. (and still do)

Please. Democrats have many centuries to make up for.
Yet you cannot show me one policy in the Republican platform that took the human rights of PoC.

You and No1Marauder cherry-pick a Republican that is racist.
Do you forget about Robert Byrd the Exalted Cyclops in the Ku Klux Klan

We know the history. Stop apologizing for vicious racists.

So what is your fukking point?

NO Republican owned slaves back then. The Republicans broke from the Whigs over the slavery issue,, dummy.

You probably do know the history and are perfectly comfortable lying about it.

The modern Republican party is based on Nixon's Southern Strategy and its largely successful attempt to woo right wing, racist Southern Democrats into the GOP.

Francis P. Blair, one of the Republican Party’s founders, owned slaves while he presided over the 1856 Republican convention and was a delegate in 1860, Kruse said.

Benjamin Burton, who served twice as a state legislator in Delaware under the Whig party before becoming a Republican later in life, also owned slaves, according to his obituary. In fact, his 28 slaves made him Delaware’s leading slave-owner.

Blair and Burton were not the only two. After conservative filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza made a similar claim on Twitter, Kruse and other historians on Twitter identified eight more prominent Republicans who also owned slaves in 1860.

LOL, this is from your own link,, Larry Elder, who happens to be a person of color.

""Republicans did not own slaves," Elder said. "Democrats owned slaves. Democrats founded the KKK. Democrats opposed the 13th Amendment, the 14th Amendment, the 15th Amendment. As a percentage of the party, more Republicans voted for the Civil Rights Act of 1964 than did Democrats. Maybe Democrats ought to sue themselves for reparations."

So you bother to point out that possibly two Republicans owned slaves.
And according to the 1860 census there were 3,521,110 slaves in the confederate states. And you bicker over a few?

you also left this out, to Elder's claims:
Factchecks claims:
The 13th Amendment abolished slavery, the 14th Amendment granted citizenship and equal protection under the law to anyone born in the United States, and the 15th Amendment guaranteed voting rights for men of all races.

Historians we spoke to said the majority of Reconstruction-era Democrats did, in fact, oppose these three amendments. Republicans led the way each time.

happy days,. What a party.

Considering the article was checking Elder's claims of course there will be quotes from him in there!

I think the Dems have it all now. Almost no opposition to anything they want. I mean, they control the press. They essentially control both houses of Congress by demonizing through the press any whisper of opposition. They in large part control the courts and will pack the SC. They just won the presidency with a candidate that can’t spell his name without looking at a tag. And he didn’t even campaign due to the (for the Dems) convenience of the COVID-19 threat.

Even so, he got many millions more “votes” than the most popular Dem President (Obama), or so we are told and told. Now that we have this new voting system in place, Dem organizers can go throughout inner-cities that are heavily Democrat leaning. They can literally pre-fill ballots, and garner signatures from people who may or may not have ever worked a day in their lives.

America. Where people in NYC, LA, And Chicago can decide the fate of American farmers and manufacturing. End of democracy? LOL, no, it’s the path to the end. Period.

I know this will incur the wrath of the very easy to predict lefties here, but since they don’t pay my bills I really couldn’t much care less about their thoughts. I think the left’s problem is not that they are dumb. It’s that they know so many things that aren’t true.

Clearly that would be the end of democracy in the US.

You know, that part where only WHITE and hopefully RICH dudes can vote, cast out all black, Latino, Asian votes because ONLY REPUBLICANS are the real people and intrinsically superior to all those sub humans who THINK they have the right to vote.

We are showing them they are totally wrong.

ONLY WHITEY gets to vot ...[text shortened]... e.

THAT IS THEIR GOAL, FUK DEMOCRACY BECAUSE WE WILL DO ANYTHING AT ALL TO KEEP IN POWER FOREVER.
If republicans win everywhere, I’ll be rolling on the ground laughing my tits off for another 4 years.

yes, and you miss the point, I see. Some of what Elders said was verified by the fact checkers. He was right.
The dems did not support the 13th 14th and 15th amendments, amongst other Elder claims.

So I guess it’s just the landed gentry who should get the vote then, sounds familiar to my British ears.

Nope. America is (well, was) a Republic. Not a democracy in the sense that the majority wins. We are (were) upfront about that. Our Pledge states “I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States …and to the Republic for which it stands”…

The republic was designed to protect the nation from huge cities simply outvoting farmers and actual producers of goods from simply being ruled without recourse.

There are 2.7 times more people just in Chicago than in my entire rural state, for example. So the new “voter suppression” is the fully developing notion among the hard working taxpayers like myself is, “why vote at all.” There is no way to beat the Dem Machine. And don’t dare run against it or you will be branded into a demonized monster. They will dig into your past, copy and paste, cut and snip, and use the power of the press they control to make you look like whatever they want.

Yup. It’s over.

Probably because the Republicans are too cowardly to even have a platform right now.

Tell you what. You tell me what the Republican Party stands for right now, and I'll bet you get laughed right off this forum.

And yet the Republican Party relies on their "cancel culture" to silence dissenting voices in their own party.
