@moonbus saidThis is so smart.
In principle and in theory, yes, I agree that rights must be secured for all, otherwise no one is safe from a tyrannical govt. In practice, one must choose one's battles wisely, especially when confronted with something as monstrous and well-organized as a fascist state with secret police. One has only limited resources and opportunities; one person might be able to shelter A ...[text shortened]... and how to do so, will be specific to each person, how he sees his own resources and opportunities.
The signal is so often lost in the noise here.
@Suzianne saidyes yes and yes
Some people get it, but some never will. They just don't grok that, due to their individual experience, people see the world not through the very same eyes, but a rainbow of perception, flavored (some may say 'tainted' ) by their own emotions and experience. Individual brains begin this perceptual difference (nature), and it is further shaped by experience (nurture). I put this into ChatGPT and asked - what does this all mean.
As always your mileage may vary - but I thought the answer was interesting.

Study Summary: Gender Diversity in Trans Youth With and Without Autistic Traits
A recent study looked at 522 trans children and teens (ages 4–17) who visited the Royal Children’s Hospital Gender Service in Australia between 2017 and 2020. Researchers compared those with autistic traits (239 participants, or 46😵 and those without (283 participants) to see how their experiences with gender identity and dysphoria compared.
Key findings:
Most kids in both groups identified as binary genders (either male or female):
• 74% of those with autistic traits
• 71% of those without autistic traits
Clinically significant gender dysphoria was very high in both groups—about 95% overall.
Social transition (e.g., changing pronouns) was more common among those with autistic traits (difference of 11.7 percentage points, statistically significant).
Chest dysphoria (discomfort with chest appearance) was equally common in both groups.
Voice dysphoria was higher in the autistic group:
• Effect size: 0.3 (moderate)
• p = 0.00087
Body-related dissatisfaction with things hormones can’t change (like height or facial structure) was also higher in autistic participants:
• Effect sizes around 0.2–0.3, p-values under 0.02
Bottom line:
Trans youth with and without autistic traits experience similar—and high—levels of gender dysphoria.
Both groups deserve equal access to gender-affirming care.
At the same time, some unique challenges (like voice discomfort or body image issues) suggest that autistic trans youth may benefit from slightly tailored support.

@Bish saidI understood it, this was just one of the first ones to pop up when I did a search. I don’t type anywhere else and I imagine the reason is if i didn’t I wouldn’t hardly have any interaction with people and it breaks things up some while people aren’t moving in games, but thank you.

@Suzianne saidWhen did gender dysphoria stop being a mental health condition?
Exactly.
The term replaced the previous diagnostic label of gender identity disorder (GID) in 2013 with the release of the diagnostic manual DSM-5. The condition was renamed to remove the stigma associated with the term disorder.
Where did the DSM say it stopped being a mental health condition, just said to remove stigma? What does stigma mean?
More than half of people with mental illness don't receive help for their disorders. Often, people avoid or delay seeking treatment due to concerns about being treated differently or fears of losing their jobs and livelihood. That's because stigma, prejudice and discrimination against people with mental illness are still very much a problem.
Then Obama did this on the restrooms in 2016
The Obama administration Friday morning took another historic step in its aggressive defense of civil rights, sending a letter to schools across the country notifying them that transgender students must be permitted to use bathrooms that align with their gender identity.
The Justice and Education Departments issued the letter, reaffirming the administration’s position on the civil rights of all transgender students and defying conservative critics who’ve filed multiple federal lawsuits — including in North Carolina — over the intensely debated issue. The letter does not carry force of law, but declares sweeping protections for transgender students under Title IX, the federal law that prohibits sex-based discrimination in federally funded education programs and activities. The letter, which POLITICO reported last week was forthcoming, emphasizes that a student’s gender identity will be considered that student’s sex when it comes to enforcing federal law.
@mike69 saidApparently, the bit you don't get is this: people who are ill, whether mentally or physically, or some combination of both, also have the same rights as everyone else and are guaranteed equal protection of the law. They may not be discriminated against, in the work place, in housing, when qualifying for bank loans. etc. And they may not be denied medical care. Whatever care they need. Not only because it's humane, but also because that's what the Constitution says. We don't tell people with clinical depression, or schizophrenia, that they have imaginary diseases, so they can't have access to care, now, do we? So why should people gender dysphoria be treated differently, i.e., denied treatment?

@moonbus saidNow put your thinking cap on, since this is an illness why is it being taken as reality in bathrooms, locker rooms and sports taking the rights you’re mentioning away from our women and children, not to mention everything else being done to children on tv in schools, books in grooming them to believe this instead of reality.

@moonbus
I agree on care, meds and everything else but is care being given or being reinforced as correct and normal? None of you seem to understand although I’ve said it many times that I have a large amount of empathy and love for them, it’s what’s being enforced over people’s rights I’ve mentioned that my problem is with. I’m on meds, just not the last couple weeks, I have many of the same issues like social problems, crowds, loud noises that don’t quit, depression, anxiety, not fitting in, and on. I’m just higher functioning because it’s less severe and analyze things more to help control things. My dream job would be working with autistic people and trying to help them, I do care very much.
@mike69 saidI was born in TX in 1955. I well remember segregated restrooms: "Blacks" and "Whites only." Suppose a person with gender dysphoria has treatment and feels better, and wants to be labelled "a woman" because that now matches what the person always felt before treatment. You, apparently, you want to label the person "still a man but with his penis cut off" -- and now you want to say which restrooms that person is allowed to use, based on a label. Right, got it. Labeling people and then telling them which restrooms they have to use. Been there, done that, didn't like it, voted with my feet. For all but a few of the last 800,000 years of human evolution, people slept all together in the same caves (or tipis), peed in the same forests and savannahs, and shat in the same latrines. That is reality; segregating people based on labels is surreal.

taking the rights you’re mentioning away from our women and children,
Exactly what right is being taken away from 'your women and children' by someone who undergoes gender dysphoria treatment and prefers to be addressed as Ms instead of Mr?
not to mention everything else being done to children on tv in schools, books
G'won, mention all the things being done to children on tv (ok, I grant you that tv is incessantly trivial), in schools (teaching them things! oh horrors!), books (reading and learning to think critically-- yet more horrors!!). What would you have children read instead? How God sent bears to devour some children who had mocked a prophet for being bald? A fairy story about a garden with a talking snake in it, but now women have menstrual and birth pains as punishment because mom ate a fig when she wasn't supposed to ?? Whoa, Nelly!
