If the problem was the same when you used a different browser then we can say that it's not IE causing the problem. Then we can work on if it's OS or hardware related.
I don't think I want to put another browser on with a bunch of other possible problems I know nothing about. IE's been working until about three days ago; if it can be fixed I see no reason to change.

Well to make you guys happy I ran the installation of Firefox. When I tried to use it, I got this:
The connection has timed out
The server at www.mozilla.org is taking too long to respond.
So I deleted it. Unfortunately, it wanted to be my default browser and I can't figure out how to change it back to IE so none of my favorites work now. Can you help me with that NEW problem?
To get you favourites from IE to Firefox, you need to go to;
Bookmarks
Manage Bookmarks
File
Import
Then follow the wizard
If you want to get IE to be the default browser;
Go to Tools
Options
Click on the Programs tab
Check the box at the bottom of window
Tell me.. you said "So I deleted it" what did you delete? You need to Uninstall programs.... if... you don't want to cause problems..

Originally posted by PeachyThanks, Peachy, I downloaded the IE Service Pack 1 and it seems to have sped up my searches and links quite a bit. Unfortunately, he did not solve the problems.
It breaks my heart to be doing this, but maybe it'll help if you get the latest IE updates..

Thats Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1. It will take a bit of space more than whats already been taken. Its not gonna cause any additional problems, it just the latest of most plugins and tools. Might fix the DNS error.

I agree with you - changing browsers is not the answer to your problem.
I'm not giving up on you... 🙂

Firewall permissions.
SHEESH!
I would recommend that our readers don't listen to anything you have to say about the Windows operating system since you obviously don't have any idea what you are talking about.

As for telling No1 to restore his computer to before he downloaded Firefox what the hell will that do (other than leave him with a hole-ridded piece of bloatware for a browser?), he will still not be able to do what he wants. You claim that his browser is not the issue, how can you be sure? Do you have magical browser checking powers? You took a collection of different errors and immediately stated the solution. What will your next idea be if No1 follows your advice (buys a new HD, defrags, adds more RAM, runs system restore all of which are more like last resorts than first choices) and still has the same problem?
As for telling No1 to do what you told him you might want to read his post on this page where he asks if his stats indicate a problem instead of just breezing right past it.
EDIT: Don't forget to warn him that a simple firewall ping is RHP trying to break into his computer and rape his dog.
PS. I/My Dad was part of a cheat police on ICC for years, I know what I'm talking about so listen to me and ignore everyone else who makes more sense.
