As someone who actually read the comics at the time the Symbiote first appeared, i have to say that i thought the film was great. Peter was portrayed as a bit of a douche, which i suppose he was (i haven't seen the other two movies), but that was kinda annoying......Hucks quick review......Cool film, the guy from ...[text shortened]... ed.

Must see if you remember the first Secret wars. (or were reading comics at that time).
isn't that just always the case with movies based on comics. the people who never read them as a kid expect something really different than they'll get, hence the disappointment. but for the rest of us the movies go from good to excellent.

How does the symbiote appear in this film? Who plays the Beyonder?
The symbiote appears via meteor, and the beyonder doesn't appear, i was just name dropping the fact that i am very very old in the comic reading stakes.

I cant wait to see if Galactus makes an appearance in Fantastic Four 2.

Secret wars, now there's a great film idea.

I saw the trailer with the Silver Surfer and Johnny Storm flying all through New York City. That was pretty cool. The film will probably be shight though.

I'd love to see an X-Men film with Apocalypse as the villian. Secret Wars would be cool (Dr. Doom is so bad ass in that) but I think my ultimate comic book film would have to be the Infinity Gauntlet (adam warlock will know what I'm talking about) and I'd love to see the 100 Bullets series turned into an HBO series.

I always remember the issue when the Beyonder drops a mountain on top of the goodies, and the cover has Hercules trying to hold it up....class.

Apocalypse kicked ass, although when i saw the sentinals in Xmen 3, my mouth drooled at the thought of Nemesis making an appearance...alas, it was just a training room program 😛

There's no way Hollywood could capture Thanos' despair or death's allure, it would kill your memory of the original.

(Which I own 😛 )

Yeah, you're probably right.

I used to own all 6 of the issues, then I lent them to a "friend" about 12 years ago. Haven't seen 'em or read 'em since. However, the story is embedded into my brain as I probably read the mini-series about 10 times in total. It was the series that sparked my undying love for comics and the Marvel Universe.

Great idea for an X-Men movie! Period!
Days of Future Past if faithful to the original story would be a great super-hero movie. X-cutioner's Song would rock. When I first read through this whole saga I was just taken to another level.

But I think the Infinity Gautlent would have to be 2 or 3 movies to be rightly done. Or else they would just mess with a great story.

You better get used to it. This happens a lot on these fora. But I think that in a moment we'll go back to your first intention. 😉

Practically every film I've seen based on a book I've read has been disappointing lol The only ones that weren't was The shawshank redemption and the shining. Off the top of my head these are the worst:

It (should have been a 10 part series not a film)
LOTR: FOTR (most of it was missing) The other 2 had more but were still wrong
Jurassic Park (should have been more than just a PG rating 🙂 )
Sphere (doesn't need explaining if you've seen and read it lol)
Theres prob others but I can't remember right now.
