How could anyone not know what egg salad is? It is disgusting (egg salad) and not my cup of tea!

An egg salad sandwich.
Ah. I've seen "egg salad" before but never really knew what it was. When I see egg salad, I'm thinking lettuce, tomato, carrots and sliced, hard-boiled eggs.

We just call these egg-mayo sarmies.

It's just like tuna salad, ham salad or potato salad. The main ingredient is the egg, tuna, ham or potato, usually chopped up, and then it is "tossed" (like salad) with other ingredients, usually mayo and celery, sometimes onion, and you can add other ingredients as you please (like salad).

Sarmies? What the hell is a "sarmie"? Alias for sandwich?

Oh no, don't go there. I wouldn't be caught dead voting republican.

Are you telling me that you don't like a lunch made of tomato soup and a grilled cheese sandwich, with american cheese of course, on a rainy day?

Now that's American, Bubba! 🙂

Tell it to Duecer. A proper grill cheese is made with sharp cheddar and enjoyed with split pea soup. This grill cheese is also lightly buttered open faced and broiled, none of that oily pan flipping garbage.

I'm still baffled by the inclusion of a sausage patty in an egg butty. If you want egg and pork, fine Danish back bacon would be preferable, no?

An egg sandwich is thick sliced white bread, buttered, ketchupped, surrounding a very fresh, free-range egg (or maybe two) fried in hot vegetable oil so the white goes crispy.

When the wife makes egg salad I turn vegan for one night rather than it the disgusting stuff. She adds sweet minced pickles making it even worse! Looks predigested!

Sausage is great stuff! Ham is ok, but who's ever bothered to host a "ham fest"?
