laughs, I probably would, as a matter of fact. I would be a matyr who helped save the lives of millions from the pain, suffering and death caused by disease. I'd be immortal, well figuratively.
Should I scribble your name down too?
I'm enjoying how people are avoiding my question, btw

Surely the question is not whether Dresden was more 'evil' than Nagasaki or Hiroshima, or even whether different people were more innocent.
The point is that both were terrible, criminal acts targeting civilians. How can you not see that?
Someone in this thread even compared Pearl Harbour to Nagasaki and Hiroshima as like for like... that is ridiculous. ...[text shortened]... the lack of compassion shown by some in this thread has truly disheartened me. Good night.
WWII was full of atrocities:
Rape of Nanking
Aushwitz
Dachau
Buchenwald
Lidice
Kos
Stavelot
Pearl Harbor
Malmedy
Katyn forest
Bangka Island
Palawan
Bataan Death March
Singapore
Hiroshima
Dresden
Nagasaki
Sandakan Death March
And so many more that they can't be listed here.
All of these events were horrific. All were wrong.
It seems clear to me that the the acts of atrocity committed by the British and Americans were far less in quantity than the acts of atrocity committed by the other major warring powers.
To single out Hiroshima or Dresden is, in my mind, to substantially over look pre-meditated massacres the likes of which the world will hopefully never see again.

I think you need to check your facts, Dresden had been bombed repeatedly in the days before. The American and Brits were after the railyards and the factories in Dresden and they also hoped the bombing would stir up chaos as well.
Your right about the population being swollen with refugees at the time. Its estimated Dresden had a normal population aro ...[text shortened]... y was the number of dead, Joesph Gobbels inflated the number to 200,000 for propaganda purposes.
“Dresden, the seventh largest city in Germany and not much smaller than Manchester, is also far the largest unbombed built-up the enemy has got. In the midst of winter with refugees pouring westwards and troops to be rested, roofs are at a premium. The intentions of the attack are to hit the enemy where he will feel it most, behind an already partially collapsed front, to prevent the use of the city in the way of further advance, and incidentally to show the Russians when they arrive what Bomber Command can do.”

There is a legal maxim that says that those who seek equity should do so with clean hands.
There is no question in my mind which countries had the dirtiest hands in WWII.

sometimes there's little point answering a point which is so far fetched there's no chance of it ever happening.
Now, we had to give them 20,000 children in exchange. They wouldn't tell us what would happen to them, but assured us we'd never see them again, ever .
Yes, its a hypothetical question but the question is what would you do?
If you would say no, explain why not.

This was the worst disaster for Tokyo since the 1923 earthquake. The death toll was at least 80,000, and perhaps exceeded 100,000.[4] This may have been the most devastating single raid ever carried out by aircraft in any war including the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, and the firebombing of Dresden.
