Don't want to belabor the point and I don't remember everything that was said in the 9/11 thread. The thread itself is difficult to reconstruct since it was filleted by a hamhock-handed mod.
I'll take your word for it that you were in favor of letting those who wanted to memorialize the 9/11 VICTIMS have their memorial.

You know exactly what you did and are now trying to spin it off as innocent. Can you honestly say that the point of your original post was to remember the dead the A-bombs caused? If you wanted to do that then why not do it on the anniversary of the events? You missed it by a month. I think you merely brought up a controversial subject to anger others on a day that is remembered for many Americans as a sad day. That is low in my book. I know that doesn't matter to you in the slightest, but playing dumb about your intentions is really rather insulting.

I saw 7/11 unfold on tv news that day and was horrified, nothing will ever change that. I wasn't around to see the A-bombs in action, but have got as close as I probably ever will when in 2003 I went and listened to a talk given by a survivor of that - and his account of what happened that day (plus the exhibition of items salvaged from the city, photo's and detailed accounts of what happened) left me, and many others at the talk in tears.
To that gentleman, the actions of the bomb droppers were designed to terrorise a nation into submission. Do you see the parrallels here?
As I wrote before - History is written by the winners, so spin can be put on these events to make them acceptable - if you don't believe that then you are blinded by your patriotism. If todays terrorists win their fight (and believe me I hope they don't) then the history they write will record the events of 9/11 differently to how we view them.
I'm not saying the Japanese government of the time were going about things in the right way - I can't say I've seen a system of government that works flawlessly anywhere to date - however the a-bomb didn't sympathise to protect the innocent youngsters, or those anti the government of the day, just as those flying the planes didn't avoid the innocent.
So, as long as this forum is used to keep memorials for those who die in acts of war or terror, then this cannot be lopsided in favour of those killed in the USA by those who act against them - it's that sort of one sided propoganda that will lead to WW3.
