Thank God they don't have any guns there or somebody could have gotten seriously hurt. 😞
EDIT - I'm guessing you are making some kind of ironic comment though and that you don't actually believe that more guns in the country would have averted this grizzly crime.

GRANNY.

In this particular case I doubt if any weapon would have prevented the death of the victim, as it sounds like he was repeatedly stabbed before anyone even realized what what happening. However, it would have been rather nice if some armed citizen on the bus had dispatched this lunatic rather than everyone sitting by while he sawed off the victim's head. And that certainly would have gone a long way towards insuring that that particular nutjob didn't poke anyone else with his butcher knife. The fact that the passengers had to arm themselves with makeshift weapons is rather indicative of the fact that there aren't plenty of guns in Canada.
Originally posted by leisurelyslothI agree with what you say except for your last sentence. There are indeed plenty of guns in Canada, legal and illegal. I don't think you can look at a small sample of 37 passengers riding a bus and, because none of them were armed for the ride, state the opposite.

I have a friend who had a very frightening bus ride (on a Greyhound as well) where a guy got very drunk in the back seat and ended up threatening people with a make-shift shiv and eventually assaulted some poor guy just sleeping in his seat with a packed fist. Thankfully, a social worker (!) was there to calm the drunk guy down. No one else was hurt and the guy turned himself into the Ontario Provincial Police at the next stop.
Whatever the situation, guns aren't always the solution though they may seem to be at the time.

Look, were are going in circles here like a pack of dogs around a bone.
I know the gun mentality around the world will never change, but I believe that in a perfect world there would be no guns and we would all be better off.
You will never change my mind about it, so let's stop flogging this dead horse (which, btw, was shot in the head by accident).
...[text shortened]... nce we already established you have the sense of humour akin to a statue of Saddam Hussein...
And yes I was being sarcastic. I also recycle, so we agree once again.
As far as my humor goes, I've been on my guard with you ever since you called someone a "fat racist" and told me I was "negative and apathetic". I didn't realize I was supposed to find that funny instead of insulting and rude.

BTW, check out pics of slimjim - he IS fat and he is also racist. Hence, fat racist.

Who said anything like that? Have you been reading the thread?
"Well, perhaps if there weren't so many guns available, less violent crimes would have been committed? "
But I'm done now, really. Y'all have fun.
