What you're being rediculas now. You'd advocate having a gun in the house but something that might give your childern fun and exersise is out of the question?

Just talk about modern art, civil rights, or folk music and you're in like Flynn, eh? Women may say they like the artsy-fartsy wine and cheese type , but they generally are more attracted to a man that can bait a hook, skin a deer, or tune a carbuerator if the need arises. Knowing how to handle a firearm is part of that. Being a whimp is not a big turn-on for most women.
So there's no gray area where people can overlap, eh?

Bingo.
So, 3 million cases of people defending themselves with your utopian safety devices (LOL) - How many reported cases do you there are of armed robbery, murder, attempted murder, suicide and accidents where guns were involved? I don't even have to look to know it fill be a factor higher than 3 million...
Case closed.
Originally posted by CrowleyNo one requires you to have a gun. Why do you want me to be required NOT to have one. The crimes you mentioned are going down as more people are defending themselves. How are those stats doing in your rife with crime country?

Also, as comical as you may find it, my use of the term "safety device" is apt when you consider the 3 million defensive uses of guns you mentioned were used by people who were trying to keep themselves safe from a violent criminal. Why do you think police carry guns? Because they know they are safer with them than without them. To the law abiding, a gun is a tool for hunting, sport etc.. and yes, safety.
Your vision of a world where all guns (or ammunition) can be made to just magically disappear is the one I find Utopian.
As to your point about there being more cases of aggressive gun use than defensive gun use, I give you this snippet from the conclusion portion of above mentioned study.
By this time there seems little legitimate scholarly reason to doubt that defensive gun use is very common in the U.S., and that it probably is substantially more common than criminal gun use. This should not come as a surprise, given that there are far more gun-owning crime victims than there are gun-owning criminals and that victimization is spread out over many different victims, while offending is more concentrated among a relatively small number of offenders.
So, you're still wrong.
The fact is Crowley, that what usually stops a bad guy with a gun, is a good guy with a gun. This is reality. Kudos on that whole recycling and composting thing though, way to make a stand.

I know the gun mentality around the world will never change, but I believe that in a perfect world there would be no guns and we would all be better off.
You will never change my mind about it, so let's stop flogging this dead horse (which, btw, was shot in the head by accident).
Are you taking the piss about my recycling? I can't figure out if you're being sarcastic, since we already established you have the sense of humour akin to a statue of Saddam Hussein...
