Nantucket is well worth the trip... only an hour ferry ride from Hyannis, fantastic fresh seafood, quaint colonial architecture, mopeds, etc.
I liked Martha's Vineyard much better, although the plane ride was quite stressful.

Approximate rhymes also work nicely... less thump, thump, thump. Might there be one for 'orange'? Also, only prime verb in the English language with the letters 'ufa' imbedded, I believe, is manufacture.

Possibly they've discovered the uniqueness they share and have become friends... as in "apples of gold in bowls of silver" Prov. 25:11.

Chess, so clean and so fair,
Enraging enough to pull out your hair.
Feelings of strain, pain and gain,
Felt again, again and again.

Chess, so quiet yet loud,
Still crazy enough to make Fischer proud.
Chess, so many tough moves,
Chess, played often in grooves.

Chess, so subtle and quaint,
Enough pressure to make a grown man faint.
Children excel while oldies gain age,
Yet some don't make it past middle age. (Pillsbury in mind)

Drinking and such other vices,
Such other distractions so often entices.
Chess, so set and so fair,
Yet for life it can not prepare.

Memories of legends and games of old,
Playing off their ideas while they gather mold.
Chess, so cool, so quiet, so subdued and calm.
Chess, so violent and fierce like a hurricaned palm.

Chess, classic and medieval,
Chess, the royal game of upheaval.
Chess, so clean and so fair,
Enraging enough to pull out your hair.

Why in the world 'sorry'? Your earnest effort was so enjoyable... and left me speechless. Kindred spirit, I'll repeat, WOW and THANK YOU.

Oh, thanks. I wasn't sure if it was a good or bad 'wow', so it was safer to take the 'apologize first, ask questions later' stance. I thought of it as a challenge and enjoyed writing it. Quite fun to think about Chess outside of playing, so thanks to you, as well. 🙂

You and your capacity for life made my night. Let's stay in touch.

All best wishes for the new year... Bobby

sorry - Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy reference - i thought because you're called GalaxyShield you might be familiar with it.

from Wikipedia (Vogon poetry):

Vogon Poetry is poetry written by Vogons, a fictional alien race in Douglas Adams' novel The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. According to The Guide:

Ford and Arthur are tortured by Vogon poetry.
Vogon poetry is of course, the third worst in the universe. The second worst is that of the Azgoths of Kria. During a recitation by their poet master Grunthos the Flatulent of his poem "Ode to a Small Lump of Green Putty I Found in My Armpit One Midsummer Morning" four of his audience died of internal haemorrhaging and the president of the Mid-Galactic Arts Nobbling Council survived by gnawing one of his own legs off. Grunthos was reported to have been "disappointed" by the poem's reception, and was about to embark on a reading of his 12-book epic entitled "My Favourite Bathtime Gurgles" when his own major intestine, in a desperate attempt to save humanity, leapt straight up through his neck and throttled his brain. The very worst poetry of all perished along with its creator, Paul Neil Milne Johnstone of Redbridge, in the destruction of the planet Earth. Vogon poetry is mild by comparison.

Oh, ok. Yeah, I'm familiar with it, but not to an extent that I can remember quotes. Sorry, I bet it would've been a lot funnier had I known it. 😉

Edit: Thanks for the description. I guess it wouldn't have been funny, after all. 😛. Oh well. I didn't think my poem was very good, anyway.

Although I'm glad you enjoyed it, Bobby.
