"Since 1998 US woman's hockey has medaled in every winter Olympics -- 8 times. The men? Only 3 times."

i wonder if it's true what they say

At the Winter Olympics,
American female athletes won 61% of the total medals (20 out of 33)
and 67% of the gold medals (8 out of 12) awarded to the US -
the third time IN A ROW American women outperformed American men at the Winter Games.

And they’ve never embarrassed the nation while doing it.

Congrats to the USA men’s hockey team on their first gold medal since the 80s!
Quite an achievement. In a few more decades you might even be as good as the USA women’s team, who just won their THIRD gold medal since 1998!

Keep grinding, boys.

And they never went around beating their chests over it.

Missing the point, as usual.

@rookie,
Did you watch the game? The U.S. were out played in the 2nd and 3rd periods out shot 42 - 28 their goalie won the game for them not the players. His family is from the Netherlands and he is Dutch, they became Americans so proves what immigrants can do.

Hell Trumpster even gave him a medal for his play. They had to go to over time so it was anyone's game. No need to boast too much it was a very long time coming and a bit of luck involved and a hot Goal Tender arguably the best in the World!!!

@Earl,
Put any other Goal tender in there and U.S. would gotten slaughtered. Lets not even mention they took Sidney Crosby out in an earlier game so he wouldn't get a chance to play against the U.S. as everyone knew that is what it would come down to.
That was an intentional dirty low hit on Crosby then the guy purposely landed on him to make sure the injury was bad enough to put him out of the Play off against the U.S., the guy should have gotten a Major Penalty not 2 minutes.

Also should have been expelled from ever playing in the Olympics again. He is the Captain of Ducks so his problems have only begin There will be many players out to get him now from different Teams. He just made himself a marked man.

I hear ya Rusty, but what would the major penalty be, "sitting on a player's leg"? lol

@Earl,
Too bad you don't know hockey a little better he hit Crosby low considered a dirty hit in hockey then landed on him with the full force of his weight on Crosby's leg to make sure the injury would put him out for awhile.

In fact it worked I just heard on the news Crosby would be out at least for 4 weeks from his Team Pittsburg Penguins in a play off run. That just made the Ducks Captain a marked man, not only by the the Penguins who have a few rouged guys but from other Canadian players no matter who they play for.

Crosby has been a Superstar in the league for the last two decades. Trust me when I tell you the Ducks Captain best have his head on a swivel even more than usual after that Dirty low hit on Crosby's knee then landing on him with the full force of his weight to ensure more damage.

Karma's a Bieatch what goes around comes around!!!

I'm sure you are right on that score. In the meantime, these are you 5 min. penalties:

"5-minute major penalties in hockey result in an immediate 5-minute sit-out (and often ejection) for severe infractions, regardless of goals scored by the opposing team
. Key, often automatic, ejections include fighting, boarding, charging, checking to the head, butt-ending, spearing, and slew-footing."

So, once again, no "sitting on a players leg" listed.

sorry!

@Earl,
Not my fault you don't understand hockey well enough to know when a guy is hit low in the knee then landed on by the player with all his weight a dirty hit. If that had been the U.S captain it happened to you would be singing a different tune even though I don't think you understand the game well enough.

You are calling it sitting on a player leg not true, he targeted the leg intentionally then landed on it purposely, and only got a 2 minute minor penalty, which was B.S. hopefully he will get his, like I said Karm's a Bieatch and you will be hearing more on this incident.

By the way you get ejected if you are the 3rd man in on a fight....You have to learn the rules a little better!!! That is in the NHL the rules in the Olympics are different there is not fighting so they call them roughing penalties instead, why is beyond me.

Do you honestly believe Sidney Crosby is out for 4 weeks injured because a player was sitting on his leg???? NO, the intent to injure was there, not doubt about it.

Follow up, he actually didn't even get a penalty on the play for the dirty hit on Crosby. Something smells bad about this for sure. I am betting an investigation into the incident will be done, camera's everywhere with different angle and NO CALL...Player out for 4 weeks and not even a call on the play. They really need better refs. Hope it will be better in France if NHL players even go. Obviously these refs weren't very good.

Rusty,

just because a player gets injured while playing does not mean a rule was infracted by an opposing player.

I wish I saw the play, of course.
