Rusty,
just because a player gets injured while playing does not mean a rule was infracted by an opposing player.
I wish I saw the play, of course.
I saw the play and it was intent to injure. I have been watching hockey for many decades and saw rule changes in that time, hard to keep up with them all.
I know an intention low dirty hit and landing on top of the leg you hit low is definitely intent to injure. He was trying to put Sidney Crosby out of the tournament which he did. Now Crosby will not be able to play for the Penguins his NHL Team for 4 weeks while they are in a play off run.
It was the Captain of the Ducks, who has been known to do this before. I can't believe they didn't even call a penalty on the play. Very poor refs in my opinion. I watch so much hockey I thought there had been a 2 minute call but hell they didn't call anything. It was as obvious as the nose on your face it was intent to injure.
As I said He just make himself a marked man. Hockey players don't like hits like that as it could have been them who go it. Now mark my words someone will be getting him. You may hear that he is out of action for a while now once he gets back in the NHL he best have his head on a swivel because people will be coming after him.
