1. Police don't make the rules. Legislatures do that.

EDIT- Yes many Police Officers are poor. You should think of how abysmally underpaid they are in comparison to the tremendous responsibility they carry when you become old enough to vote. Luckily, where I am we are compensated pretty well.
Go ahead, have your stereotypical "why I hate Cops" rant in this thread. I won't interfere anymore with reason, your minds are closed to it anyway. I accepted long ago that my chosen profession is one in which it is counter-cultural to support. If you are anti-cop, then anything you say is OK, you don't have to substantiate any of it. If you defend Cops, then of course you are only lying to yourself. I don't engage in these things with any hope of changing closed minds. It is just moderatly entertaining to me to call you people out when you make such blatantly ignorant statements.

That's rather sure for someone who still hasn't clarified exactly what they meant in the first place. My meaning has been transparent from the start. Yes there are SOME Police Officers who should not be. They are in the minority, but you paint us with a broad brush. When any other group is treated like that, it is called discrimination. It shows an absolute lack of respect and appreciation for the majority of us who do our jobs as professionals, and who care about the people that we work for, even if they don't care so much for us. I am a Father, a Husband, a Grandfather, and a Friend. It is my job to be a Police Officer, it is what I do, not who I am. You people seem to think that when we put on our uniforms, we abandon our humanity and become viscious, violent robots, who love to hurt people, and write tickets that may cause them financial hardship. These things couldn't be farther from the truth for the VAST majority of Police Officers, at least in civilized regions of the world.

I think it is unfair to cast a blanket over an entire group of people or profession due to the actions of a smaller part of that group. To say that all cops are bad is a gross injustice to the majority of the men and women who serve in that capacity. Yes, I agree, there are some bad cops, abusers of the system if you will. There are also some who crave the power they weild. But can you show me ANY profession where this isn't true? You have some bad priests, so now all priests are bad? You have some good politicians, so now all of them are good? (😉) . I know several cops who are very fine people and they do a fine job and they take the job to heart. I am sure there are many more out there just like them. As far as kids having run ins with them...well there are a great many kids today (Though not all) who deserve to have their butts whipped with regularity because the misguided ideals that the youth seem to have as a rulle border on insanity. I am sure alot of it is due to the influence of television and the fact that many grew up as latchkey kids because both parents had to work. That, however, is a rant for another thread. I believe that the Police, Firemen and teachers as a rule are grossly underpaid compared to the degree of danger they face in their jobs. It is like umpires in sporting events...everyone thinks they are out to get them and so they collectively hate them. I am no saint and I hate getting a traffic ticket as much as anyone else. But, if you are honest with yourself, how many tickets have you missed because a cop wasn't around to see you break the law? If you are honest, I'll bet you get busted less than 10% of the times that you break the law. Think about it. Then you get righteous when you get caught. Take your medicine. I personnaly welcome the police busting everyone they possibly can who drives under the influence because those people endager my families' lives. I personally applaud them for nailing every SOB who rapes a woman, or breaks into a house, business or car that doesn't belong to them. Ever been car-jacked or had a knife to your throat, or worse, your wife/girlfriend's throat? How do you feel about the offender there? You would love to have a cop catch them for you. I am only sickened that the system allows so many of the guilty to go free because of a loophole in the law (This is another rant for another thread). I will close my speech with the thought that I support the police as a group, I support their efforts, and I will continue to contribute to their cause. As a general rule, these folks are heroes and if your viewed is tainted because you have had negative experiences, sit back and take a good look at those experiences and maybe you can see what I am talking about. If not, go ahead and attack me in the forum.
