@ashiitaka saidMy buddy married a beautiful lass from SA. She's of Indian descent and has taught me many wonderful things about her homeland. (Especially about the grinding of proper curry.) 🙂
I've been to Egypt. It is amazing, but in my opinion Cape Town is more special.
It's sandwiched between mountains and different two oceans: the warm Indian and the icy south Atlantic. The Cape Peninsula on its own is one of the world's 6 floral kingdoms, as it is so unique and diverse (it's more diverse than the Amazon). There are stunning beaches, mountains, forests, a ...[text shortened]... hoisan, Malagasy) and Asian (Indian, Malay) influences. All the cultures fuse into something unique.
You make a good case. Thank you.
@handyandy saidIf that's truly the case I must be "really" nice cuz lately and actually most often, in chess, that's my placement.
Nice guys finish last.
@trev33 saidNow had you said "Cape Cod" and the 2nd week of Sept 2020 (tourists should have departed by then) I'd have seriously considered it.
Cape town, first week of April next year. who's up for a meet up? 😉
@great-big-stees saidShouldn't they change the name now that all the cod is gone?

@ghost-of-a-duke saidFirst topic of the day, stop growing so many avocados and save the water
I suspect sir that if you, me and Trev were to ever meet up, we would solve all of the world's problems.
😀
@great-big-stees saidThere are tourists there until Columbus Day.

Just for those who don't know! 😉
You're Welcome Andy! 😉

@very-rusty saidInteresting fact : Christopher Columbus never set foot in North America . It was only made a national holiday to placate Italian- Americans .

@very-rusty saidIt's a three-day weekend.
Yet it is celebrated by the U.S.A. every year! 😉
I knew someone would bring that up!
@handyandy saidI didn't realize it was celebrated for 3 days....who says one can't learn new things on here. I am betting there are others not from U.S.A. that didn't know that. I have relatives in Boston but they've never mentioned that to me. I guess they figured it wouldn't be of any interest to me anyway. Knowledge is always a good thing as they say.
