You make interesting points.
If I were to eat meat, I would rather eat an animal that has been hunted than one that has been factory-farmed all its life. A wild animal that grows up free to engage in its natural behaviors and meets its end at the hands of a predator who consumes it entirely (or as much as possible to minimize waste) is far preferable to th ying populations) and consumes all he kills can't help but be fully cognizant of the process.
I guess we can agree to disagree on what we prefer to eat. 😉

Where did I say that plants breathe? As you state, they put off the oxygen we breathe through photosynthesis. They might not have a nervous system, but look at what destruction of the rainforest and other habitat closer to home has done to other aspects of the environment; global warming, overpopulated animals living in the backyards of suburbia, etc.
Your rainforest argument is severely flawed, if you can't see where it is in error, i won't go to the trouble, i just won't even bother. And you are only providing a clueless description, yes the rainforests are being destroyed, but you *magically* manage to not show what caused this to happen, to delineate the real causes, to point out the anthropocentric greed, carelessness and wanton neglect that causes this to occur.

The question was relevant seeing someone saw no post made by a vegetarian that made sense. That implies knowing who is and who is not, which is probably not that easy.

Well, last night my subscription renewed for another year
so if I may enter this thread...
I enjoy meat.
I do not view meat as murder.
I remember waaaayyyyy back when (about 350 years ago) we were hunting and gathering and
there was some vegetarian tribesman that we constantly made fun of
for not eating flying squirrel.
He might have been th ...[text shortened]... the best at preparing hot wings.
Hot wings and cold beer---damn, I am soooo hungry right now!

It's not my choice but I have far less of a problem with that than with mindless, ignorant consumption.
